John Terry, season on season brings the game into disrepute for one reason or another.

i cant think of him being violent. he might shag around and be a gobby twat but hes nothing on barton

I am not defending his actions but suggesting that because of his profile he is being handled differently. The 12 game ban is more about them than him, banning him for 12 games is a pointless excercise. Why did they not get him in and try and do something constructive with him, instead of a headline which will ultimately serve no purpose whatsoever?

he is and quite rightly. his profile is like that because of his actions, again and again. repeat offenders, particularly violent ones, need harsher punishment

I can't believe people are defending Barton. He didn't get a 12-match ban for been sent-off. He got 4 game ban for his second red of the season and a 8 games ban for conduct.

That's what's wrong with the bloke. He thinks he's some kind of rebel and people buy it. It's not his fault, it's the system. If he played for Man U or Liverpool it'll be different. He's done this time and time again. But it's never his fault. Not once has he made any real effort to change his ways and toe the line. No doubt all his 'people' will be blown smoke up his arse about how great he is and how much of a rebel he is. He's a cancer on the game.

I feel sorry for him. Unless he gets his head straight and get his life in order, I can see a very sad end not just to his career but his life.

once he retires i can see him going totally off the rails. moaty part 2, maybe not killing people but sitting in a field to shoot himself after depression and drug abuse. im sure gazza will turn up ofcourse

This, except I don't feel sorry for the twat

I wouldn't defend him for one minute as he is a prize twat, but still I found it quite funny, Tevez after all had a pop first and is an odious little elf, 12 games seems fair enough. Can see QPR making a statement and letting him go.....straight to West Ham nailed on.

TBH I thought the whole episode was funny, I laughed when I saw him him dead leg Aguero. The way some of you lot are going on calling for his head is pathetic and embarrassing, I wonder how many of you have played football competitively before.

did you laugh when he stubbed a fag out in a younguns eye

talksport just summed it up perfectly 'he's and angry little man who takes to twitter to pick arguments with anyone possible, for one reason only and thats to be known. when he does get his chance to be known on a football field he is no more than average and has to take to violence'

I agree with the length of his ban But surely the debate should now move on to people like Barton (and Kevin Pieteson for example) using social networking sites to slag off fellow profesionals and/or try to justify their actions.....just a thought
