Spot on, 12 game ban for a dead leg is ridiculous. I think rugby is shit but football could sometimes take a leaf out of their book. The sport is full of exaggerating wankers, diving, rolling around injured (barton has done this before also) they should be the ones punished for making a mockery of the game.

Strictly speaking it was an attack on a professional player by someone who had no right being on the pitch at the time.;)

Yeah, it's much worse watching somebody fall over onto the floor than watch somebody try to headbutt another person, or smash their elbow into their face.

I mean, it's man's game isn't it? If somebody wants to cause ABH to somebody then let them. But if the person he attacks rolls around on the ground, then he should be f***ing hung drawn and quarter. No place for rolling around in this game, it's with rolling around that people could get seriously hurt. They could get an awful grass burn, or accidently roll into another players foot, like a bowling ball.

it would be easy to say harsh but then i remember kenwyne getting a 3 match ban for a soft push. if that was classed as violent conduct then 12 matches for barton is about right.

Rugby - Someone pisses you off you make sure you tackle the fuck out of them the next time you can but keep it sensible.

Football - Someone pisses you off you can tackle them but go too far and you can a) seriously injure them b) get sent off c) get banned

Rugby allows players to respect one another while also being able to take out their pent up agression/energy by tackling

In football you can't do that.
At half time some of them need to twat a punching bag by the look of things.

Then again, people like Barton should just not be allowed on the football pitch at all.
But that's mainly because he's a bottom feeding knobgoblin

It's not a 12 game ban ... he already had 4 of them for the red card.

Today he was given 8 matches ... but that doesn't sound enough for the media, so they add his other 4 in!

Nobody is condoning diving or cheating.
Barton is an odious arsewipe who shouldn't be near a football pitch unless it's playing for pentonville inmates!
Couldn't care less who he has played for now or in the past , he is just scum and should be railroaded out of football.
The best thing rugby has is a sighting commissioner, who views games and can impose retrospective bans. Employing such a system would soon rid the games of divers ,thugs and cheats.

That would be brilliant.
Sadly it's hard enough to get goal line technology let alone a 5th official to make sure they're not twats to one another

I haven't read this thread although I know what his punishment is.
I only hope QPR find a way of sacking him as I know this is what they want to do.
Breach of contract ?
I say yes.
How the hell is anyone at that club or any other club supposed to respect this cretin who is masquerading as their Captain.
Who made him Captain ?
How can anyone defend his own words in that he wanted to take a City player with him ?
Great example to the young footy players of West London........Not.
Get Rid QPR Please.

To be fair rugby players seem to quite often end up punching each other or stamping on each other. The refs let it go a lot more frequently than football refs but it's not as if all rugby players just take out their frustrations by tackling, there's a lot of violent stuff goes on in rugby that is completely against the rules of the game

In May 2007 he was suspended by his club after a training-ground altercation with Ousmane Dabo left the Frenchman needing hospital treatment. He was charged with assault and on 1 July 2008 he received a four-month suspended jail sentence. He was also given a 12-match ban by the FA - six matches of which were suspended - and a £25,000 fine.

Not so harsh after all. Possibly more lenient than severe.

As I said before . How many chances does that piece of scum get:?:

Again, total exaggeration when it suits.

He raised his arm slighty and made minimal contact.

What was the FA doing getting invloved in a training ground incident in the first place. We are told this happens all the time.

Whether he deserves it for this incident or not, as a person he deserves everything he gets.

Hope QPR sack him and we don't have to watch the horrible little shit next season

It was reported to the FA iirc whereas others haven't been.

This really! The stuff he's done and the things he spouts on his twitter about the FA they will make an example out of him at every opportunity!

essentially it's a longer ban than 12 matches cos QPR won't be putting him in their 25 man squad and who's going to buy a player who's done jail time and has a long ban hanging over him?? (and before anyone answers, he's already been to Newcastle, retirement home to the clinically stupid, and burnt his bridges there)

Harsh that.

I have only seen replays but in all three instances he appeared to be provoked.

I think his reputation has preceded him.

It would have been an 8 matches max for anyone else.

Not harsh at all, he's a horrible little twat and needs sorting out.

thats what happens when you are stupid enough to brag about it on twitter
