There's more than that. Luca Stephenson signed a new contract at Liverpool, Asoro is at Genoa, Jacob Young went to Hoffenheim, Woud to Willem II, Stryjek could still have been an option for us, Ethan Robson is doing great at Blackpool, Williams Kokolo and Cole Kiernan went to Boro, Morten Spencer to Leeds. You forgot Embleton too.

It's disgrace.

Did you watch a lot of them mate? Which ones are we going to regret losing most?
What I will say is, we clearly produce outstanding young talent. It's clear we do.

With a half decent owner showing ambition we COULD produce more in a couple of years and keep hold of them

Some have been at the academy since they were kids though. Years of development has been lost.

Yeah I get that but it's a conveyor belt isnt it. Those kids have been sold but we'll have kids now that in a few years could be in the same position and hopefully by then we'll have a hierarchy that'll realise that talent and utilise it

There's a possibility that in a two or three years England u21s have Hugill, Stephenson, Greenwood and Mumba starting for them and despite coming through our academy would only have the appearances Mumba made for us to show for it.

There's also a lad called Yankov who's a Bulgarian u21 international and been playing in Europe this season, he left before Donald turned up though.

Of all the disastrous football decisions from the Donald regime, the most awful of all was cashing in on promising children to reduce the pressure for him to return the parachute payments. And now we get to watch Graham, Wyke, Grigg and O’Brien playing up front for safc rather than greenwood and Hugill. Aye this is definitely what good looks like.

You’ll get the “what could we do?” crowd on your case soon. That is if they can still be arsed defending the owners. Definitely less of them these days...

At least people got to change the seats that people sit on to watch Charlie Wyke.

Donald and Methven are a disgrace. Imagine ever being a cheerleader for them.

Aye like they had Pickford and Henderson playing for them?
We're a tinpot feeder klerb.....Fookin suck it up......

Great news that Luca Stephenson recently signed a professional contact with Liverpool. But, there are sixteen midfields in the academy alone and there is a long way to before he is near the first team, never mind England U21’s as someone mentioned. Seeing the brightest striking prospect, since Fowler, potentially being peddled before he even got a chance must be soul destroying for the lads coming through.

Unless the corrosive effect of the vandalism of the Donald regime has parents pulling their kids out of our academy to go into the mags or Boro or Leeds. That plus league one and a manager who seems to have little idea what a pathway to the first team actually looks like are worrying signs for the near term. We need new ownership to clear out the stench of the Donald era and an academy manager in place with a clear remit in short order. But we also need a change of culture in the club with a move towards a smaller first team squad and clear priority given to promising young players. Most likely we’ll need a change of structure (and probably manager) too.

Fuck em marra. Not interested in the opinions of Stewart Donald fans. I’d rather talk to Sunderland fans.

I’d honestly insist that 33% of first team squad were u23 if I was chairman at this level. Gets harder further up but there’s a fair few would probably have got some games if the squad makeup was closer to that and would be contributing at least as much as the likes of Wyke whilst going up in value.

He wasn't planning on it being his problem

Just imagine if we had those kids blending into the first team right now. I’d have hope that our squad could grow into the championship and possible the premier league with them in it. Oh what could have been.

Aye, just like the promising players we held on to like Mumba and Neil. First team football is a good argument for lads to stay at least. Oh hang on

Absolutely shocking and the club trotted our the “nothing we could do line” in podcasts etc. when in reality they simply did nothing.

Some of them may still have left but we certainly gave them no incentive to stay.

Makes you sick.

A parent of one who went to Liverpool put on here that the club had accepted a bid and never even rang the parents to see how they'd gotten on when they spoke to Liverpool themselves.
It certainly doesn't sound like they tried whatsoever to convince them to stay

Aye, I remember like. I wrote something for Roker Report on the subject a little while ago, referencing it. Was similar murmurs around Greenwood as well.

Club people gave the whole “you can’t stop the big teams” and that. Granted, they’d be a massive draw but ha’way, at least have a go at keeping them. The bottom line more important than everything else it seems.
