Jobe

The lad clearly wants to forge his own path in the game without being constantly compared to his brother, fair play to him.

This is why he’s asked Sunderland to refer to him as simply ‘Jobe’.

How come the media, Sky Sports especially don’t care and insist on calling him Bellingham on commentary? The social media post for his goal against Leeds couldn’t resist mentioning his brother despite having absolutely no reason to other than extra impressions on their daft tweet.

They seem to respect other players decisions when it comes to preferred names - such as Dele Alli becoming Dele.
Jounalism for ya Bellingham is massively searched on the Internet. The biggest hastag in football = more views. Ofcourse they're going to call him Bellingham whether he likes it or not

It won’t do his value any harm. What a run into the box by the way for the goal, he was running in while everyone else was moving out, perfect timing.

Has he actually asked to just be known as ‘Jobe’ rather than ‘Jobe Bellingham’ in all contexts, as opposed to just wanting his first name rather than his surname on the back of his shirt?

I understand players want different stuff on the back of their shirts for whatever reason, but would seem a bit odd if he’s asking the club / media to disown his surname?

I don’t think the Dele comparison is that helpful, if you do your research.

Having a brother who is really good at football and who you seemingly have a great relationship with is…

Not analogous.

The Bellingham name gets attention. Good for us and him, but if he wants to stop the comparisons fair play to him.

In a few years, once he's carved out his own rep, I doubt he'll be arsed.

You can argue our foreign recruitment has been poor, proof is in the pudding but some lads will take longer than others. But recruitment in general has been class, nicking Jobe from a fellow promotion chaser is a statement, we were lucky with Dodds being here, to be fair.

But hopefully in time, there's more young lads with promise, whether it be a top league 1 or 2 player, an unproven youngster from the Prem, or a Championship perfomer, ready to sign for us so they can maximise their potential.

big old shadow cast by his brother, must get on ur tits no matter how well you play your brother is mentioned, don’t blame the lad at all

Jude doesn’t help matters by hyping Jobe up himself on social media whenever he plays well and does something of significance

I reckon he’s more comfortable with the link than we think.
