Jobe

The lad clearly wants to forge his own path in the game without being constantly compared to his brother, fair play to him.

This is why he’s asked Sunderland to refer to him as simply ‘Jobe’.

How come the media, Sky Sports especially don’t care and insist on calling him Bellingham on commentary? The social media post for his goal against Leeds couldn’t resist mentioning his brother despite having absolutely no reason to other than extra impressions on their daft tweet.

They seem to respect other players decisions when it comes to preferred names - such as Dele Alli becoming Dele.

Becuase they can't say

"Jobe strikes

No not that one."

Which is the whole reason he wants to go by Jobe.

That's a total guess by the way he may just want to save the fans some money getting his name on the back

Within seconds of us winning the commentators managed to mention Jude Bellingham in relation to crashing the box and scoring a header. Really pissed me off

Kobe is the brother of potentially the biggest talent to be English.
Of course they are going to link them in stories. Just like Sunderland fans take an interest in the connection and the Op starting the thread.

Link him, aye. They’ll always be linked and mentioned together.

But, him scoring a goal in a game that has nothing to do with Jude, why the need to mention it?

Does it work the other way around too?

When Jude scores for Real Madrid do the commentators have to clarify that it was Jude who scored and not actually Jobe scoring against Rotherham?

big old shadow cast by his brother, must get on ur tits no matter how well you play your brother is mentioned, don’t blame the lad at all

He was always called Dele Alli on tv.

If he can get 10 goals this season it’ll be a superb return, even then he’s still done brilliantly so far and in a few years probably at top 6 prem team he will be doing similar to his brother

Can I just say what a talent he is but let’s not forget weve give him a platform for him to perform, yes he came through at brum but hes got that extra kick on with us. We’re both good for each other much like dortmund was for his brother

Don't like Sky, but at the same time they know how much armchair fans are interested in celebrity etc so it makes sense for them to go on about the Bellingham angle in the hopes it gets more people to watch. They're bound to hype it up, they hype up everything that they show.

Main thing for me is that our fans respect his wishes and, when he inevitably gets a chant that really takes off, I just hope it doesn't reference Jude at all, even in a supportive way (about Jobe being better or whatever). We can respect him, let him develop without hearing the constant references/ comparisons from within, and he'll no doubt learn to tune out the media

100% just let the lad be himself and make his own destiny not constantly be compared to or referenced against his brother

To be expected and have massive respect for him wanting to make his own way and to stop being constantly compared to his brother.

But when his brother is the best player in the world of course the media will use the Bellingham name
