Jobe

I get why he's compared to Jude, but it's also a bit funny. If his name was Jobe Bullingham I feel like he'd be talked about as the most exciting young midfielder in the Championship, instead everyone talks about his brother. There's no shame if he doesn't match the career of a lad who's at Real Madrid scoring goals for fun.

Granted he’s a few years younger than Neil but he’s not even the most exciting young midfielder at our club never mind the league. Would also much rather sign Hayden Hackney than Bellingham if I supported a Premier League club.

TBF Hayden Hackney is more than 3 years older than Jobe and only 6 months younger than Dan Neil so it’s not totally comparable. In terms of immediate impact the. Hackney would be a better but currently, but there’s a good chance Jobe will be a better player at 21. I reckon Rigg’s ceiling is a fair bit higher than Jobe’s though.

Rigg should be playing far more minutes than he has up to now.

I hope we don't end up in a Callum Doyle situation where he ends up being a permanent fixture in the side and run into the ground and all of the early season optimism about their potential gives way to frustration. He's still very young and it's rare that you get players at that age starting every single game week in week out, particularly in a league as physically demanding as the Championship

I'd echo Mick. Hackney is a good player but he was plying his trade in League Two when he was Jobe's age. I'd also say he's come into a side at Boro that has more experience so it's easier for him to focus on his own game. Jobe has really had to take an important role, and that's shown by the fact he's got more goals and assists than him this year.

It's all opinions at the end of the day though, I admit.
