Jermain Defoe (no longer a rumour)

It’s embarrassing this thread.

He was definitely signing for us because some random ‘ITK’ said, then he isn’t because Lee Johnson’s scared Defoe will take his job, now he’s definitely going to Oxford because some bloke on an Internet forum says he is.

In a weird way I hope he does go to Oxford as the meltdown on here over an almost 40 ex player will be incredible.
He’s hardly gunna play every game. Be an impact player at best wherever he goes.

Which one is it the mate? Please tell us as I'll believe whatever you say.

The people who are saying it’s not the end of the world if he goes to Oxford are probably right but fuck me it would be nice to have something to get excited about for a change wouldn’t it

We'll see what happens. Although I'm not putting much weight on the amount of money spent particularly. I do think the summer proved we can recruit well and within our means, and do things properly. The current model is the reset button we should've always hit when we came down to League 1 in the mess we were. It just needs to work quickly cos we're all fed up of this league.
I dont think anybody plans for the January window unless you missed out on a player in the summer and you hope he comes available in January.
The Jan window is a different beast altogether with most of the deals done on the last day or so..........We as a club would be idiots going into the last part of the season without cover for Stewart and everybody knows this.....

I heard Newcastle are in for him because they have loads of money and don't want us to have him next year when we play each other in he championship.

Shows how far we have fallen as a club, when most people are adamant that a near 40 year old striker is the answer to all our problems in this division.

Really embarrassing thread this.

Mods can we delete it once the inevitable Defoe to Oxford is confirmed?

Tbh, it does show you how far we've fallen because we should be able to get both a young forward and Defoe in. Instead we've a lad on loan who's back at Everton for the foreseeable, Stewart who's pulling up trees and doing everything upfront on his own and AoB who's complete and utter dogshit.

We should be giving ourselves the best possible chance of going up this season and (at the moment) we still look considerably short for the task in hand.

What's really going to be embarrassing is a 5th season in this league and the inevitable firesale on the squad if it happens.
