Jermain Defoe (no longer a rumour)

Haha, not at all mate. I just don't swing to polar opposites like a lot on here, that doesn't make me an accountant

I'm hitting F5 on here and elsewhere as much as anyone hoping for news.

All I'm saying is that very little leaks from the club now during transfer windows and the summer showed that while we heard very little, there was a lot going on.

Most were happy with the final result - or at least saw the approach had worked and improved the squad.

There's no reason to assume this window will be any different. Generally the new recruitment team have done well. Players like Stewart, Winchester, Dajaku, Cirkin etc. have all proved shrewd moves.

I'm happy to trust them and wait and see.
I see your logic but trust is earned and yes we got some decent players in over the summer..but we didn't spend much did we? This window is going to be very important to us and we all know we need a striker to cover LND however this window may require spending over the odds on a player just to get them over the line and thats new ground for our owners and recruitment team and im not sure they will ! Basically i simply don't trust them like you do!

Thats the point though its KLD and the muppets that need the tin hat.At the moment we have signed a kid from Ireland who sounds as if he is one for the future.I hope im wrong but action is needed in the next 10 days to have a chance of going up.
action is needed, but the same thing happened last window, we did our ssigning s a bit later and they worked out

We'll see what happens. Although I'm not putting much weight on the amount of money spent particularly. I do think the summer proved we can recruit well and within our means, and do things properly. The current model is the reset button we should've always hit when we came down to League 1 in the mess we were. It just needs to work quickly cos we're all fed up of this league.

Wigan didnt even have 11 players in the summer. Puts things into perspective.

Im all for building for the future but the days when Clough and Shankly could build teams over the long term sadly is long gone with all the money that is in the game

If we dont go up all the decent young lads like Stewart and Neil will be gone in the summer and we start yet again in this horrible league.

A short term punt on a lad we know will score goals and give the place a massive boost is just a no brianer.

If we are struggling tomorrow and need a goal with 20 minutes to go or God forbid Stewart gets injured Johnson will turn around and see AOB. If Johnson is happy with that fair enough but I know many supporters wont be.

We lost quite a few players ourselves remember.

I like that on here journalists are immediately discredited for posting something yet a random gadgy on a forum where threads average 6 posts is taken as gospel.
