That's class

My daughter is keen on biochemistry and would like to work on medical research in the Life centre labs in Newcastle. She's only 12 though, so she might change her mind yet :D
My brother did biochemistry, really enjoyed his degree...works in computers now.

My son wanted to be a doctor from a very young age, did a year’s volunteering at local hospital in his lower 6th and he hated it, started him on the dementia ward and ended up on the alcohol and drug dependency ward, decided he couldn’t deal with sick people, not ideal as a doctor:lol:, so decided on medical research instead
Clever girl/young woman - go for it, whatever she decides, good on her
At 12 iirc I wanted to be a footballer, publican or Sammy from the town 😳😄🙄
👏👏
Sammy the Chin?

She wanted to be a vet until I told her you have to put your hand up cows bums then she changed her mind
On the other hand, my Mrs achieved her ambitions, and still is clever and feisty. I’d consider whoever the lass takes up with in future to be very fortunate indeed.

She's mint like. They'd be getting a good one :D

They are usually the hardest to find and the most difficult to hang onto. Unless you discover the secret.

Aye, he was a few yrs awlder than me & first saw him stand on a barrier in the FE & dive onto the crowd - looked fun. My ambitions have always been low marra. The pub one took over after having to pack in playing football (decent standard) at 15/16. Achieved it very early on ( country pub & restaurant at 25) & then had to think what’s next 🙄

We’re you on anyone’s books with the football? My best mate was at Leicester, broke his leg twice and released at 18.

The country pub explains your culinary skills

I played for the county U16’s ( W Yorks) & trained weekly with Leeds & Bradford ( dif yoof system to now in 1972).
The pub - T was at college with G Rhodes & she did the cooking tbh. My parents were in the trade. I ran the bars/cellar “wet side”.

I got into training whilst there, biggest buzz ever when invited to cut the ribbon of my first trainee couples opening night at their Walton in Thames pub. Hairs at the back of my head shot up like never before & realised I got off on helping others achieve. So followed the training route.

Haha, must have been a hardship doing the wet side.

I had offers of trials with Ipswich( who didn’t) Coventry, the Mags and Leeds as a boy, dad wouldn’t let me go as wanted me to go to Uni, he was right mind, Nigel Clough could give me 2 yards start in a race over 10:lol:

Yeah one of my other ones is for St Benedicts hospice in Ryhope, can't praise them enough for the level of care and support they provided over the last few days with my dad. Some very special people work there

No Imperial is linked with the Royal Marsden in London, probably the top cancer hospital in the world but yes he has done well, his school was amazed with his offer as normally 2 or 3A*'s required. He had a weeks placement in the summer at the Welcome Trust in Oxford, which would have helped his application but there were over 20 applicants for each place on that course, so he did very well on that application.
Nice if it has a personal side to giving to charities, your dad would be proud.
Talking of proud, you should be proud of the lad, he must be dedicated and worked hard to get the placement.

Cheers Sis, he is incredibly driven, v bright and can charm the birds out of the trees when he wants something, basically everything I’m not, luckily I married well, even then I wonder about a paternity test.

Now the youngest is definitely mine, lazy good for nothing....
