I also think an influx (him, Kone, whoever else) would be a good thing for the squad. Of course it's important not to affect team spirit, but to be honest there isnt much evidence there is any right now. A few fresh faces could do wonders - both in competition for places and too blow some cobwebs away.

We need big personalities to come in and take over. The current culture in that dressing room stinks and the evidence is plain as day on the pitch most weeks.

It's concerning but I'm past really caring. We need players and I'm hoping any change is positive. If he's played for both Bayern and Scahalke then surely he's as good as what we already have. He could end up being a snip. I don't know much about him.

Looks as though he'll fit in fine based on this:

As always, any player that comes to us isnt going to be perfect. Due to both financial constraints and the fact we arent an attractive proposition for many means we have to look in the damaged goods section, however, Kirchoff has spent the last 3 years at one of the biggest clubs in the world - he was obviously there for a reason and his experience there can only be a positive for a club like us.

If Allardyce thinks he's an improvement, and our medical staff think he is fine, then I look forward to him signing.
You could have been writing this about Rodwell when we signed him.

if you take over at Sunderland on FM and leave Congerton to the transfers (I know, I know) then he targets this fella almost immediately every time.

Allardyce went over to watch the fella train 3 times last month.

True but some gambles come off- Ba's knee was widely known to be knackered but hasn't exploded yet and he's given good service to a few clubs. We nearly signed Ricardo Fuller but he failed the medical and went on to be excellent for Stoke. About time we got lucky!

But we are Sunderland, and no matter what we tell ourselves every time we make these signings, the problems always persist. Rodwell, Kaboul and Matthews were all renowned crocks before we signed them and so they have proved to be in their short time here.

Also true, sadly. Got to change sometime surely!

If we keep him fit could be a class signing, this isn't like someone from Barcelona B who failed to make it in the big team, this is a player who Bayern looked at and thought yes, this player will fit into our team, surely if we keep him fit he will be a fantastic signing.

Have you been borrowing Piston's mind reading machine?
