He is entitled to do so
And im entitled to consider him a bigoted c£nt for doing so

Indeed you are. I don't think he is bigoted, I just find him a bit odd. I get the impression he feels under pressure to keep doing it.

Ireland is a very different place to what it was 30 years ago. Someone has spent a lot of time druming shit into his young head. I know lads who served during the troubles, some of the things they could tell you are awful.

And maybe as a kid growing up in the Creggan estate in Derry he knows lads who lived there during the troubles, and some of the things they told him are awful.[/QUOTE]
He should fuck off back there then.God save our Queen

His stance is against the establishment. He is unhappy as innocent people were killed in an area where he lived. It was wrong what happened. But so were the many bombing's and murders carried out against anyone who dared stand under a union flag. It all happened a long time ago and no good ever came of it. Infact the Rublican's ended up with two MP's (who still refuse to to take their seat). The vast majority of Irish folk would rather resign the entire period to history I reckon.

Wow, the little Englander, no better than McClean really.

I doubt he's intelligent enough to understand the politics of it all. If he gets dragged into this sort if thing I can see him getting into all sorts of bother when he's finished playing

To some, aye. All depends on which side you're on.
Personally I'm not on either side and if the lad doesn't want to conform to the norm and wants to make a statement then so be it.
its not that he doesn't want to conform to the norm, hes going out of his way to disrespect the country he lives in and the fans that pay his wages.

Maybe some of you should check out what happened in Derry on the 30th January 1972 and you might understand his stance.

Bailing out of this one. All I say is I've been to Northern Ireland a few times. The lads I went with served there and we met up with lads they met while doing so. Not one thing that went on got mentioned and the folk we spoke to were great. The bars are mixed and most people support English teams. The troubles are history and I don't understand why this kid can't be a voice for young people. Or and the lasses love a Sunderland accent;)
