Jack Ross sacked at Dundee Utd

Always find it strange how many of our fans get like dribbling dogs when an ex SAFC employee fails elsewhere. Would take Jack Ross back any day over Alex Neil, one has morals and loved the club, the other is an absolute c##t!

A lot of the stick he gets his unfair. He did a decent job to turn us around that first season. Yes he had a decent sways but we were absolutely lifting the previous two and he produced a decent side that were difficult to beat. The 1-1 draws became a joke but he should have been given that second season when we appointed Parkinson.

The home AZ Alkmar result for Dundee United was exceptional but they got absolutely hammered away and their players haven’t recovered since. Celtic could hammer most teams and they’re one of the best Scottish teams there has been for years.

I think he will still get other jobs, potentially in the Scottish lower leagues and I hope he succeeds.

Even without Maja in the second half of the season, he had an unreal squad.

McLaughlin, Oviedo, Cattermole, a younger McGeady to name a few.

Should never have failed to go up like.
Cattermole wasnt playing well, Oviedo was very hit and miss and often injured and the rest of the team included a lot of filler.

Granted McGeady and McGlaughlin were class but they were often doing it on their own.

Interesting to think where his career would be had he taken us up.

Agree, his star striker was sold from under him and the goals dried up. Would have coasted to promotion if we hadn't sold him.

I worked for a Dundee Furniture company for a spell, JTC , and also worked for a site manager in the North East on several sites who was from Dundee. Nice lad Scot.

Totally off topic, sorry.

Edit. Shame that. Seemed like a nice bloke.

We'd have got promoted if he wasn't thick enough to try and play 442 with Max Power and Grant Leadbitter in midfield after McGeouch got injured. We'd have got promoted if he had any plan on how to play once Aiden McGeady got injured. We'd have got promoted if he didn't drop his arse after a few months of open attacking football and started deciding to sit ridiculously deep when 1-0 up.

His inability to actually change things is one of the main reasons we didn't go up.

In fairness having his only goalscorer sold out from under him then replaced with Will Grigg against his advice all on (inter)national TV would probably break most.
He did it all to himself, gifted a goal in the opening minutes of the play off final, then being utterly clueless as to wtf to do then

Nice bloke. I guess we'll never know why he dropped his favoured playing style.
Think the way Barnsley came back at us in that home game after we went 3-0 up inside about 25 minutes put the frighteners on him for some reason, definitely seem to remember us being a lot more negative in our approach after that. Quite ironic when you consider that was probably the best result we had during his tenure.
