Jack Rodwell, Scapegoat or really that bad?

Jesus Christ. This club is baffling. They seem to think emotions towards it and the people representing it reset every summer. Newsflash: it DOESN'T. None of our fans want to see that soft shite playing for us, especially in central midfield. Listen to us for once.

He's certainly an easy target, he also scored which has hardly been mentioned on here. Players like Honeyman get untouched because he's a local lad

Honeyman had a very poor game. Maybe people do give him a bit more leeway, but so they should

(1) He's not experienced at first team level.

(2) He played well in our first 4 games, scored twice. And wide players are notoriously inconsistent.

(3) Honeyman was asked to play an unfamiliar role. It was hard to tell that we even had a system, but we looked to have 3 at the back with Honeyman as wingback for a fair bit of the time. I don't think he's cut out for this role.

Rodders, by contrast, has none of these mitigating circumstances.

Embarrassing he got booed mind. Good to know Grayson is giving everyone a clean slate though, sets a good example to the rest of the squad. Hopefully will keep his place next game, he's a massive threat from set pieces.

No it bloody well isn't.

Just means that rodwell gets 10 games ahead of someone else to prove to Grayson what every supporter already knows - that he is crap.

Galloway is well Galloway, Ruiter distribution was non existant, Wilson gave the ball away multiple times, Vaughan is just pointless, O'Shea was flat footed for the 2nd.
And Rodwell did nothing for 89minutes. He causes unseen problems for every minute he is there because players have to do his legwork and cover when they think he's going to be there to make a tackle but he isn't or when he doesn't move into the obvious space infront of him, or just generally do anything remotely like being a footballer. I wouldn't boo someone personally myself but I had no sympathy for Rodwell at all after 3 years of hiding.

Not only is he very bad at football but his lack of response to hurricane Irma has been shocking.
If he was a relief worker he would simply walk from one tree to the next cowering behind them and jog in the opposite direction to any cries for help.

I'd have preferred we gave Borini, Khazri, Lens, Kirchoff even Larsson etc a clean slate than Rodwell.

No matter how poor they were in the Premier league they looked a whole load better than the shit we saw on Saturday, and if they where demotivated and wanting off it would be the managers job to get them motivated.

We all know why everyone is off though.

Haway then, who is it? It wasn't the same lad as the one behind me claiming Oviedo is the best LB we've ever had at the club or that we've got a team full of Premier League quality players..... come to think of it he named Rodwell as one of them anarl
Can't sorry he'll fkn kill me.

I don't see many people in support of Rodwell (I'm not one of them), but is he really as bad as fans think or do you think he is being used as a scapegoat for our current plight?

Did we see anything in his performance against Sheff Utd?
Did his goal mask the truth or can we build on it?

For me, i seen glimpses of good strong challenges. Positionally, it looks like he is out of match fitness and a few yards off the pace. As much as i dislike him, i can't help but feel he is being used as a somewhat scapegoat.
Wtf he's had long enough ...

If he starts tomorrow night SG might as well pack his bags before the match.. Gibson a far better player even though he is poor, but streets ahead of Rodwell.. I have a feeling this is all down to the obscene wage he is being paid..
