Jack Diamond and Anthony Patterson

They’ll benefit from the experience of being involved in the first team squad and will have gained from training with higher quality players than they would’ve staying at home to play the likes of Morpeth.
This. Some of the criticism is bizarre tbh - it's standard stuff that's happened since time began, involving young players in the first team squad to give them a taste and some experience. They might grasp it and want more and it spurs them on, it may help them or they may wilt. Just another part of their development.

Was is worth them going away to Portugal?

Patterson didn't feature at all and Diamond only got 6 minutes?

For me with them both being there I would have liked to see them play more than a total of 6 mins.
The trip isn't just about the 2 games, it's about training sessions and fitness

At last, some common sense! Some of the comments in this thread are just plain stupid!

I think yes it was good for the following reasons:

- It will have boosted their morale;
- They get to socialise with the first team lads and experience being part of the first team squad;
- They continue their training with the first team, which can only help with their development.

Sammut is playing because he’s Scottish and been at Chelsea end of discussion. but was absolutely awful at Falkirk by all accounts.
Where'd you hear this? He looked canny last night.

It’s about them just being around the first team, eating, training, relaxing etc etc. Don’t understand your beef at all!
My beef? Take these lads and only give 6 minutes in total. Patterson didn't even get on the pitch. I would want them to be given a chance in an actual game, see how they get on.
