He is very one footed.

There was once today in the first half, Johnson was in space wide right and Colback had the ball heading towards that direction but couldn't pass the ball with his right foot and the left didn't allow the angle for the pass so he went back to Cuellar.

Why is it right footed players never get blasted for being one footed but loads of criticism is levelled at lefties who can't use their right. Name one player at SAFC bar probably dare I say it Fletcher who can comfortably use both feet?

The best central midfielder at the club, but also the latest boo boy it seems...

He isnt in the same league as cattermole mind, how on earth can people rate colback so highly yet class catts as shite?

What does colback bring to the team that cattermole doesnt?

This, Cattermole is our best central midfielder by a mile, which is a bit depressing in itself in all honesty. We've missed him big time the last couple of games.

He was f***ing awful. He isn't good enough - simple as. Sideways passes, doesn't offer much going forward and isn't physical enough to help defensively. He was shocking.

The only thing I would say would be he (at least for me) has a better first touch, is a slightly more consistent / better passer and is slightly more likely to score. The difference between the two on here though in the main seems to be that Colback is judged on his attacking (or lack of it) ability yet Cattermole is not. The two of them play very similar roles.

Cattermole is a more busy centre midfielder harassing people whereas Colback is more stand off and more positional (in a defensive midfielder role that is).

when you watch MOTD and see other premiership midfielders busting a gut to get foward, scoring goals and having shots on target you realise how ineffective Colbacks is.

I like Colback, he wasn't anywhere near as bad as some are making him out to have been yesterday, but he's not as good as others have made him out to be in the past.

The trouble is we have some similar players in Cattermole, Colback, Vaughan, Meyler. All of them have slightly different attributes, but in essence they all hold their position, play from the back four and don't get beyond the striker.

We need a box to box midfielder to play alongside one of them. Gardner could be worth looking at again in this role. He got a bit of stick on here but having had a regular run of games this season he'll be match fit now, something he never truly was last season IMO.

I'd be tempted to go for a midfield four of Larsson, Meyler, Gardner and Johnson against the mags, but a centre midfielder who has some genuine presence and can get up alongside and beyond Fletcher should be a priority in January.

makes himself available for selection?

this isn't the first time cattermole's missed a big local derby game by getting himself controversially banned. i can think of the boro cup game for starters, didn't he manage to miss that one as well? at the time i remember a few people remarked that he wouldn't want to play against boro.
despite all the bravado anyone with a suspicious mind could mark him down as a "bottler". not saying he is but if it happened again would it just be a coincidence?

f***ing hell  he wasn't banned against boro, he was injured and also missed 3/4 other games. You're just making up absolute nonsense to put a case forward for your golden boy. How on earth you can call Cattermole a bottler is beyond belief when you stick up for colback, Cattermole had a top draw game at the SDA last season. Look at our away games this season, colback goes missing in ever one of them when he has been in CM, totally anonymous.

got in from work early last night. most of the regulars on here were probably long to bed. i thought i'd put out my best lobster pot, dropped some bait in it and went off to bed wondering if i'd catch anything. woke up this morning to find you flapping about in the cage with your pincers waving around.
it was a fair catch but i'll throw you back alive. sorry fella, it wasn't the drink, the devil made me do it.
