Colback was shite today - as were a few others mind. He offers nothing to the team - a poor mans Paul Bracewell. Dare I say we missed Cattermole.

Mignolet is good at shot stopping short range shots - but bloody garbage from free kicks outside or nearly outside the box. How many free kicks has he let in without getting near them. The first and third goals today spring to mind.

Mon also needs to give McClean a rest from the team, although he will probably stay in against the scum in the hope that he can get back his form of last season.

2 weeks time is going to be a tough game - lets hope the main men don't get any injuries on international duty - and we can regroup to stuff the bastards from up the road. FTM

There'll be few complaints, I think it's widely recognised that we do miss Cattermole.

How colback stayed on that pitch today was beyond me.

Worst player on the field. Well him or McClean anyways.

Colback offers nothing at all to the team. Passes the ball 5 yards to his side or 5 yards backwards. Today he couldn't even do that, waste of a shirt

aye shit, when has he took a game by the scruff of the neck? contributes nothing to the team and is to slow on the ball, Never mind some knackers think hes the next scholes

Contributes nothing?

The Scholes reference is tongue in cheek. Scholes has been one of the world's best players. I thought you might have grasped that.

Colback is still young and there aren't that many players in the Premiership playing as regularly as he is at such an age. I think you need to give the lad a break.

Not been himself so far this year.

Add to that Mclean, Johnson, Sessegnon.

All of them have been poor compared to what we know they can do. Yet we're still doing alright. For the first time in ten years, I know we're going to do alright. No, not top six, but not bottom three.

As such, i'm pretty pleased. We weren't up to much today, but getting soundly beat by the champions is no crime.

Surely that accolade must go to Adam johnson. I can only remember him touching the ball once.

There wasn't a good performance in the team today. Thought rose was probably our best player.

Far from our worst player today, I thought after Mig, Rose and O'Shea he was probably our best player.

Ain't a popular idea on here but imo Colbacks best performances for us have all come at left back....wouldn't go dropping Rose atm either so its a tough one. Colback has potential but he needs to push on from where he is. Its a big season for him...he said himself at the start of the season that he needed to add goals to his game and that he set himself a target of 10. Have seen zero attacking development in his game this season though but it's still early days..we've played 6 games....4 off them away and we've already played Arsenal, Liverpool and Man City. A bit of patience before we can really tell how the team are playing....

playing wide men puts the two in the middle under more pressure...mind I'd rather we have wide men....so O'Neill needs to buy a player to go with Cattermole...Colbacks a player whos developing same as our left winger ..

Only thing that clownback and scholes have in common is their hair, he isn't fit to tie scholes laces man.

What bothers me most about his game (and Vaughan is guilty of this as well) is that he doesn't gamble with a longer range pass that could see us break quickly. Too many times he passes it to his nearest man when one of our wingers is wide open and if he passed with a bit of ambition we might catch a team on the break.

Colback looked decent at LB, but doesn't have enough at this level for a midfield place. And actually Rose looks better at LB, so the future for Jack is doubtful.

We miss Cattermole when he's out, and with Sess losing form we have a big problem just now.

The problem with that is finding people in space. We tried that with fletcher today and he was often very isolated or when we did have players around him he more often than not opted to shoot. People can bitch and moan with not passing forward but if there isn't any one on then where else are you mean to pass? Fletcher plays very centrally and is often marked. I think we are missing bendtners ability to hold the ball up and bring people in to the game at the moment. Granted the problem with that is the lack of a body in the box.

By the way im not saying colback had a good game by any stretch of the imagination.

Get Jack at left back and put Rose out wide?
Colback isn't good enough to boss midfield. Game passed him by today....just like rest of the team!

His confidence is clearly low and his head visibly dropped towards the end of today's game. Tbh I was never totally onboard with the Colback love-in, just think he's too slow, weak and not positive enough in posession, although he is still young and has shown potential so no need to throw the baby out with the bathwater. Henderson is the better player though - I'd have him back in a shot and keep Colback as a squad player as he can cover two positions.
