If you watch him closely, when receiving a ball in space he actually hangs on to the ball until any attacking option is closed off then lays it back to a centre half, making it look as though that was the only option.

Hate to criticise the lad, and he has to be there with the admission of Catts, but we have to change this when he's back. Nothing whatsoever in centre mid. And it's been that way since the start of the season not just because Citeh have superior players.

Colback's best suited position is LB for me, and a back-up at that as Broadway looks a player.

Our MOM 1st half.

to be fair he hasnt been the worst today but that says nowt as they have all been completely f***ing dreadful as they have been most of the season

Simply not good enough for centre mid, not enough strength, doesn't offer a goal scoring threat, hasn't pace so can't change the pace of a game. A good left back/left midfielder but not a good central midfielder.

A very weak centre mid partnership Colback and Larsson.

He hasn't played particularly well but neither has any of our 11 players so far, though I would say he has been as good as any of the 4 (5) other midfielders to date. Perhaps Colback has been asked to play in the Cattermole role and given Larsson freedom to get forward?

I honestly don't think O'Neill has asked the two centre midfielders to bomb forward as we'd be exposed at the back!

Larsson looking good as usual, looking to create a threat and remaining composed

He hasn't been brilliant 1st half but he's been our best midfielder if that tells you anything. SMB boo boys readying for their next victim...

This.
He's been ok - certainly no worse than the rest of the team, yet the usual suspects are queuing up to criticise him.

Think MON needs to address the midfield situation in the summer. We've no pace, height or creativity with Cattes, Jack, Seb or Gardner.

Meyler would add height, when Cattermole isn't playing I'm surprised he doesn't play, similar to Catts.

I keep hearing from people how he "controls the midfield, "runs the midfield" and should be playing for England.

I really don't see it, I think he is a good player and certainly worth a squad place and I would start him in my team ATM aswell. I just think people go way over the top with him.

8 out of his 20 completed passes have gone forward, most of the rest have gone sideways. He's only misplaced 3 passes. So you're talking shite

this and we aren't playing renford rejects so I'm not sure what people expect, cattermole is vital in games like this.

This board is unbelievable

My thoughts exactly the only player that has had opportunity to play a pass into the box and been poor everytime be it in open play or by set piece.

Yet again the lad has been totally anonymous, the games just pass him by especially away.

People calling for him to get an England place are seriously deluded, near and tidy decent player, that is all.

Agreed. Decent player who is comfortable in PL, but limited.

Explain? He has played some decent balls into the box and not been caught in possession like every other midfielder today

Sorry but I think he offers nothing from the centre. Not quick enough to join attacks nor strong enough to be effectively defensively. Been better today but that's not saying much.

So winning possession in the final third and then putting it on a plate for fletcher 2 minutes ago isn't enough? I agree he's limited but he's very useful

People critising colback need to sort there heads out he's doing well its larrson who's doing the best tommy miller impression I've ever seen this is a bloke who is a full experienced international can't even get his foot on the ball!

He did that after you said your initial comment

Point being? You said he's not capable at CM when he is doing a better job than colback atm. He just won possession again in our half to set off johnsons chance. He gets some unjustified stick on here
