Ideally yes, however the two dont go hand in hand in general you tend to find attacking midfielders to be small and quick. Defensive midfielders tend to be larger and more physical.

Aye, that's the point I was trying to get at with my response. The only player I can think of who fits the bill (and isn't THAT quick) is Yaya Youre. He is absolutely world class though.

 think it proved pretty much the opposite. Showed what we're missing when Cattermole does play.

Cattermole's a terrible player - shouldn't be anywhere near the first team, barring major injuries.

We lacked drive, momentum and positivity in midfield 1st half, Cattermole provides exactly that.

Anyone who thinks Colback is better than Cattermole in centre midfield is blind, stupid or both IMO.

Worst CM at the club, no doubt. That includes the under 11s and the ladies team.

We've been watching different Cattermoles mate. Because although he shows glimpses of this occasionally, he's not actually done that consistently for 2 years.

And offer nothing beyond the half way line??

I f***ing hope not.

The only reason he got on the end of the clearance was that he was so f***ing deep. Vaughan done fuck all until his wonderstrike.

Vaughan also lost the ball on a couple of occasions in the first half. He like Colback is 'crab' like playing the ball left and right as this is where the options were.

In terms of 'drive' I suppose I mean he drives the team to pressurise the ball high up the pitch. I wouldn't say he particularly drives us with his ability on the ball but to be fair to him he did create two chances last week (Sess and Bendtner I think).

Up until he scored, I wasn't too impressed with Vaughan either yesterday.

He was poor as usual. Gardner and Meyler should be ahead of him. Richardson did quite well when moved into the centre also
I guess that just goes to show how little Blackburn wee offering in the second half.

I thought he did OK yesterday, lacks experience gets caught but main job is to keep it simple. Don't think he will ever be brilliant and probably moved on. He isn't that young anymore at 22 (?).

Not a lot of difference between him and Cattermole tbh. weaker in tackle but doesn't get booked as often, but probably a better / more consistent passer.

I thought Vaughan was good all game, but we are just too slow in midfield in terms of pace and moving the ball, by the time we have done our dozen passes across the middle the opposition teams defence is set.

The team needs a fair bit of tinkering and wouldn't be suprised to see a few going including Colback / Cattermole especially if Bruce gets a job with some spending money.

Catts and colback both shite. Hopefully O'neill moves away from both
