Worth pointing out though that the piss biscuit would have signed a new deal had the club not took liberties in thinking he should sign a deal for half
the wages going rate, purely on the fact that he had come through the academy.

I hope they took note and don't make the same mistake with our future young uns, just because they've came through the ranks they will still want the going rate
for their level.

We might lose a good player next time!

Unless you've got factual evidence I don't agree. I think Colback wasn't worth as much as he got at Newcastle anyway and, by their actions, they don't think so either now. The idea of pay parity is a non-starter as players who are worth it get paid more and those who are not get paid less. I've no doubt Colback 'thought' he was worth more (dubious agent, parent?) but he obviously wasn't. We haven't missed him and he'll I'm rather glad he'll not be back.

Colback said he felt the contract offer he got was derisory, which is probably true since we made a last ditch effort with a better offer, too late of course as he had already been offered silly money from the mags, it's what we do, try and penny pinch, see M'Villa which was a monumental cock up.

Dont get me wrong like, I didn't really care when Colback left.

Of course that might well have been his agent trying to talk up his salary. This might be similar to the talk about him going to West Ham perhaps for the same purpose. What I think we can all agree on is that the lad was overpaid and definitely not worth the money he is now on.

He was a regular starter on 16k a week while Craig Gardiner sat on the bench on 35k....
