Ivy House

Rosie's gone right downhill since John left, real pity.
Love having a quiet pint in the Ivy like, only really gets busy on certain days.

was bouncing last night from 7 till about 9, looked like either teachers or 6th formers on end of term piss up, was some right clips - but in a good way. its one of sunderlands best all-round pubs. doesnt feel like a food pub, which helps. plus muggboots wasnt in

Rosedene heading same way as Barnes ... Barnes would make killing if they turned it back into a proper pub , was always the busiest of the two , pre carvery days

its the lowest common denominator syndrome.... shite cheap food, generic drinks, no character, full of scratters.

The Barnes was THE meeting place on a Saturday night..rammed by 8 o clock..pubs now with all the food stuff..not for me like.

Ages since I’ve been in the Ivy, there and Chaplins used to be a couple of our regular post match pubs.

On a similar note, just drove through the town before and noticed the big pub on the corner at the bottom of Park Lane has got a cover over it with Flanagan’s or something written on it. New pub opening soon? Seems to have had a canny few names and looks that place over the years.

Used to smuggle sarnies in from the shop over the road. 20p cheese and onion buns.

Student days. Once saw Bryan Mooney playing pool in here. Shaking like a leaf he was
