Ivan Toney

Remember this? Bookies were happy enough to play along then.

Nail on the head.

Infuriates me the bookies offering stupid, gimmick markets (which I'd include transfers as) then getting uppity when everything isnt 100% to their rules set out for sport betting.

Disagree there mind. He's telling his mates what his new job is, I tell mine when i've got a job interview/been offered. Pretty standard stuff.

It's not his fault that the bookies take bets on such stupid, easy to manipulate markets, which are frankly NOT sport. Bookies offer these odds on stupid things then cry foul when somebody makes a couple of quid off it.

Same goes that it isn't his fault that the FA/governing bodies are so scared of the bookies that they didn't back him.
Not in some industries. People sign NDAs when auditioning and getting parts in films, for instance. If I were a footballer, I'm not sure I'd be revealing progress on contract negotiations & transfers on whatsapp

Reading the article, I can't imagine its going to be an overly long ban.

Barton got 13 month for 1,260 bets including games he played in.
Two Boston lads got 5 months for 757 bets

262 for Toney, some of which he's planning to appeal against.

2-3 months max?

Would have been funny if they'd had a Bowyer/Dyer set to over it in the middle of the pitch. Try explaining that one. Mind you I think Peacock might have a had a slight reach advantage in that scrap
Its mentioned on the program the Beeb did a couple of years back about the history of the Prwm, if i remember it was a late Pen that Gillespie tried to take off the regular Pen taker but wasnt allowed, that late goal cost him 40k.

Ban will probably start at the end of the season and be done before the new season starts so utterly pointless.

Totally agree, these markets are stacked in the bookies favour and inside info happens in every other industry going so don’t see the problem really, in fact I’m fully in favour of it. We’ve done well quite a few times on next manager and next club markets over the years due to 100% guaranteed info, it happens all the time in football. Any time joe public can get one over corrupt bookmakers gets a thumbs up from me.

David Sullivan’s boy has been pulled up a few times for letting slip WHU upcoming deals on twitter and pretty sure Bob Murray’s son told all his classmates about Howard Wilkinson’s upcoming appointment at Sunderland years ago, he was 40/1 at the time! No different from a player telling his mates.
