ITV is now a gambling channel!

Just flicked through the channels and found that ITV 1 is running a dial-in/online gambling programme.

How desperately f***ing sad is that? I'm literally shocked. I hadn't realised that our mainstream media has sunk so low.

Sad times. :cry::cry:

I'm not sure how they get away with it, but considering 60% of prime time advertising is now gambling based then I shouldn't really be surprised.

I'm not a prudish person or a killjoy by any means and I believe that provided nobody else is hurt or negatively impacted then a person should be able to do what they like. I am however becoming increasingly uncomfortable with the amount of gambling advertising that is being force-fed to the viewing population. I'm aware that there is concern in the relevant governing authorities about the amount of gambling advertising being presented on sports programming, particularly football, so I'm surprised mainstream TV channels are permitted to run actual online casinos. Next thing is we'll see it on CBBC! ;)

I remember when we only had five channels and nee access to porn on your phone, trying to knock one out over the gambling tv presenter on ch5 after midnight

Never happened, SuperCasino was launched as a channel on Sky in 2005 broadcasting 24/7 but crossed over to Channel 5 at a certain time.

The ITV equivalent launched in 2008.

At a pretty shit time in my life I got drunk and lost a fortune on online gambling. Totally stupid, entirely my fault. I'd never been a big gambler before that but made a decision that i wouldn't gamble at all after that, close all my accounts, not even a quid on a accumulator

What I noticed after that is how relentless gambling advertising is. It's constant, on every channel all the fuckin time. When you actually notice each advert you realise how many there is and how they cover every angle, lads in footy to lasses at bingo and everything inbetween

Gambling ads should be banned ASAP. They are a plague.
