It was brutal but funny

Many more people found it amusing than the handful of whingers .....no reason to lock a thread because of a tiny minority.
I'm responding to being called a racist and a liar you idiot

Last 2 pages just been people insulting others. Nothing about the original post. You even said you been accused of being a racist.
My opinion was to lock. Each to their own.
Will look later this afternoon at no doubt another 2 pages of insults. What started as a humorous story as usual on the SMB turns into insults.

I always respond in kind mate, on here and in real life.

People insult me, they get it back.

You've been reasonable, I'm reasonable back.

I have no problem with that.

The bonus of being in an economically deprived area like Sunderland is we have a falling population due to people leaving for work and as such no massive pressure to build loads of housing......The biggest difference between much of the South and the North East is the noticeable amount of space...Every available spare bit of land in London is sold off to developers including peoples gardens where possible. When you have lived in London and come home the thing that surprises you is just how wide normal streets are, how much greenery there is, how low the buildings are and how spread out cities with relatively small populations are...........Some huge salaries in that there London but in terms of standards of living I think the housing costs are so different that it is possible to live a lifestyle up here easily comparable with London.....I would definitely prefer to be poor in the North East than the South East.

Very good post.

Been to Luton a few times (football and non football).

It's not the best or the worst place in the world, wether that's down to the amount of non white people is a moot point.
Mind they do have an airport.

Used to live in the south and yeah there's definitely some beautiful places around like the New Forest for example. But it's grim up north apparently, see the Northumberland coastline or the Scottish Highlands or Roker beach even. I'll take it.

Weather's Shoite..

The missus comes from there - to be honest, some of the white working class areas are worse than Bury Park. places like Marsh Farm and Houghton Regis might look better, but they were populated by people that inner London councils wanted to get rid of, and they haven't improved since.

Some of these dives we end up going to following Sunderland is sad really. But then the away fans of said dump will turn up at the SoL and call it a shithole and claim they want to go home

To be fair even by Sunderland's standards Luton is a shit-hole...

I'm no massive fan of the OP, and I am a paid-up, remain-voting, immigrant-loving, liberal who lives in one of the top-five most heavily Muslim council wards in the country, statistically speaking (in Newham, since you ask), where White British is genuinely a minority ethnicity...

But I really do think the people suggesting his comments were divisive or derogatory to such areas need to get the fuck over themselves.

There are plenty of unvessary, piss-poor, condescending comments about Luton on this thread - and the OP made a few himself. But the initial comment is a joke - lighten up.

I've honestly never been to a worse place than Luton. And that's coming from someone who happily lives in Peterlee.

The lad who actually made the comment wasnt being offensive or racist, he was mumbling to himself.

That made if funnier because he actually looked confused.
