It was brutal but funny

One thing that did surprise me that, while on the coach, we passed a collection container where you can dispose of unwanted items. We have similar containers, where we live, for shoes, clothes, etc ..... the one in Luton was for unwanted weapons!

I've never seen one of these in the NE although, tbf, I don't live there.
We call them skips old bean

Know the OP, like most of us he can say a few things.
But unlike some on here, he is a good laugh.

My Luton contribution is from my work linked to socio economic development & improvement. Enough to say that Marsh Farm is held up nationally as trying to do some difficult work within an area of outstanding deprivation. Make of that as you will.

I understand that and you make fair points. My defence of Luton is not that is a hellhole in places, it's that most of the towns are no different, Luton, Derby ,Leicester, Doncaster, most of London, Stoke, Coventry, the list is endless. I have been up and down this country as a courier for 25 years, it just makes me laugh at people coming from these places mocking Luton. A comedian from bloody SLOUGH was at it earlier in the thread. Anyhow grumpy you said we were crap, I will remember that if we beat you up there. I thought you looked the better side for sure on Saturday but we are better than that I believe. Enjoy the season, I will be amazed if you are not promoted.

I think you're mixing me up with someone else there - I said in the prediction thread before the game that I'd be happy with a point. I'm a little less happy, because we had a lead and let it slip, but an away point is an away point, and I reckon you'll win more than you lose at Kenilworth Road. I did say that we probably had more of our better players unavailable than you, but that's along way from thinking you're crap.

My mistake then. I thought are tactics were wrong on sat, no pace to run at your defence and to many long balls made it easy for the defence. Thought you played well, should have had a pen in the 1st half as well ( ref was an idiot anyway) you did not create many goal scoring chances though but you will only get stronger.

The lad who actually made the comment wasnt being offensive or racist, he was mumbling to himself.

That made if funnier because he actually looked confused.

I couldn't work him out. First of all, he seemed to be quite clearly making an immigrant-phobic or islamophobic implication.

You called him out, then he tried to say you were the one being immigrant-phobic or whatever.

He was talking shite, either way.

I was merely pointing out that Bury Park shouldn't be singled out because it's an Asian area. To be honest, it looks far more run down than it is because the housing stock is old. I'm not actually from Sunderland, but it has dire parts as well as nicer ones. I've lived out of the North East for over 40 years now, and there are very few places back there I would move to - I'll probably get into massive bother for saying that . I'm actually from South Shields, and I've got into trouble here for saying what I think is the truth about it - I really don't think much of it at all. I have no problem with Bury Park - as a student in Birmingham I spent a couple of years living in Sparkhill. I don't have particular problems with Luton, other than finding it spectacularly dull. To put it into context, I also find places like Reading spectacularly dull. I think it's something to do with them being, essentially, dormitory towns for London.
There are very very very few dormitory towns with anything going for them at all. Soulless places.

Not just that, Sunderland is by no means the greatest City on earth,But fuck me I work all over and I pine to be home. Even Middlesbrough is better than 100s of towns and cities down the country but still wins worst town awards. The north south divide does exist but in my eyes the north isn’t the poor relation it’s made out to be
Name me 5 towns in England and South of Nottingham that are bigger shitholes than Middlesboro.....

The southern coastal resorts such as Hastings, Brighton, Southend, Dover, Ramsgate, etc are pretty grim tbh.

I don't know Middlesbrough tbh.

Why south of Nottingham? Why not south of Middlesbrough?
However Just to make you happy and value your own opinion above mine
Gillingham, colchester,Peterborough, slough and Luton. It’s all about opinion mate. You may like these places,I’ve never claimed to know the ins and outs of every last one. But these places are no better than boro in my eyes
You can also hoy any amount of bits of London in. One mans gold is another mans turd
