Mark Lathwell was a personal favourite of mine. One of our own Simon Brown should never have bothered the selectors too. Proof for me that county stats alone should never result in a call up.

Nick knight was a good one day player mind.
Also 1992 we had an excellent one day side as well.
I was looking at England as an overall cricket team to be honest. Yes we had some decent ODI players in the early 90s

Exactly - Mike Smith topped the county averages for years but was a million miles out of his depth at test level

Mike smith!

Quick look online and there are some pearlers from that era:

Neil Mallender, Joey Benjamin, Jason Gallian, Alan Wells, Gavin Hamilton

Although i'm bitterly disappointed i can't help but think that it's a good thing for English cricket because Moores and his backroom staff will be long gone, his 2nd spell has showed how out of his depth him and his staff are! We didn't even take our strongest squad because of his Moore spitting his dummy out with too many players!

Would anyone be surprised if the twunt kept his job? 'Inexperienced team' blah blah

Moores didn't have a clue the first time and is even worse this time! Just look at other teams sending players in to take the game away from us while we've got the knackers sitting up in the stand reading bit of paper with stats on saying do this do that, adapt to the situation man ffs!

This. As with the England football and cricket team it strikes me as being far too formulaeic. Of course its good to know stats etc. but that should not be the driver and bee and and end all as it looks from the outside. Coaching manuals are fine but putting it into practice comes in many forms. Not everyone has to look, act and be the same as each other. Mavericks are fine and you have to know how to handle them.
