Is the problem Pedro Ribiero?

Certainly not over coached in the set piece department 😁

We dont seem as adept at the ‘high press’ compared to first few months

Ultimately we have a relatively small/ young squad so lack of consistency is always going to be something to deal with

He's not the one deciding how we play and not rotating the team all season.

The high press is a myth.

i think there may be something to the overcoached bit . We've tried to turn young players with spontaneous ingenuity into 90 minute certainties in order to increase their market value too quickly .Its killed their flow . we should have backed them up with experienced starters & fanned their excellence, not tried to complete them at this stage
Funnily enough i was just reading a book about that thoughtless execution and flash of creativity that we call the zone ( "Flow in Sport " ) . Theyve tracked the brain waves and the enemy of on the spot genius is being over thoughtful, even more so with sub 25 yo athletes as the frontal lobe isnt fully developed so its hard for them to repeat patterns without effortful thought ( at the wave level) . Creativity used completely different brain wave types. Regis has done nothing if not tried to make them thoughtful , to " find solutions ". Overthinking it at the organic level.
Too deep maybe but i dont think theyre physically tired, that data is easy to track and if the monitors were showing organic fatigue anyone would rotate .

Think there's probably something in the over-coaching thing. Was really noticeable how well drilled we were at the start of the season. We even scored almost-identical set piece goals in the first two games (free kick from the left whipped to the back post, Cirkin headed across goal, O'Nien bundled in / free kick from the left whipped to the back post, Cirkin headed across goal and in) and tried the same routine several times again since. I think part of it is teams figuring us out and having the flair and ingenuity coached out of them and part of it is Le Bris losing his nerve after losing to Plymouth and Watford late-on early in the season when we'd been pushing for winners and left ourselves open.

Yep it started with those defeats.
Been getting steadily worse since.
We have lost so much spontaneity.

No you could see the performances going downhill even if we were picking up the points before he'd come in, we were never going to keep up the promotion challenge with those performances.

We were flying before he came in then start falling away.

Are we over coached?
Just pure coincidence.

When he came in he wasn't really involved in touchline discussions. Seemed like he was learning the ropes and an understudy to Dodds who he eventual replaced as the main assistant head coach.

Recently a reply on a post from Sunderland France account on X yesterday and it read "this reminds me of the end of Le Bris' time at Lorient"

Looks like deja vu for Le Bris. Starts well with attacking football then goes defensive affecting performances and results.
