Is MoN right when he says

Was common knowledge he allowed the coaching staff to run training, Steve Walton mainly iirc, whilst he would only turn up on the Wednesday and Thursday. This may have had alot to do with his ill wife, mind.
Common knowledge how? I'm not calling you a liar or owt by the way it's just something I've heard a few times on here and never seen anything to back it up.

After the initial new manager bounce wore off we were absolutely turgid under him and his signings in the main were quite shocking. We got rid at the right time, he's not a PL manager any more, his time had passed.

5m for Danny Graham suggests otherwise.

Or £6m George McCartney.....£7m Jozy Altidore......God knows what the final bill will be for a player we don't even own (Alvarez). The truth is every single manager we've had has bought plenty of shite and Graham came with a half decent pedigree......leading scorer in the Championship followed by a 1 in 3 record in his first PL season at Swansea.

'If I'd been given half a chance at Sunderland, I'd have succeeded.'
As reported by George Caulkin in an article today.
Fair comment or rose tinted specs?

No, I don't think he is right.

He was the perfect appointment for me, and I thought that if anyone can do it here he can. But, I didn't see a lot of progress and couldn't see any great change.

I know you aren't having a go mate was just saying. Seemed to be the concensus at the time, fairly sure it was decent sources.

Pretty much this.

I remember when as a pundit he criticised Brazil Ronaldo for "playing the game 3 stone overweight" ironic as he allowed Bramble to do exactly the same.

Yeah I've heard it as well it just never seemed to be backed up with any real evidence. It may well be true mate but I'm always a little sceptical with things like this. Same with the alleged drinking culture. Lot of talk without anything substantial to back it up.

I work with a lad who also works for the club and has quite privileged access to everyone from the owner downwards....ill ask him tomorrow just how true it is.

Was upbeat about his arrival and started decently. Sadly, it was a steady decline on the pitch and imo his approach and tactics seemed to be quite dated. He certainly wasn't as hard done by as he seems to make out.
Keano this week seems to be echoing MoN's view on the club. Time to leave it in the history books for me.

Fair enough but at least know to use him.

He played largely in 4-2-3-1 at Swansea with pacy wingers. That was never ONeills formation whilst here. Most of our football was hit and hope whilst trying to keep it tight at the back.

He was most successful at Villa where they had pace up top in Young, Downing and Agbonlahor. He tried to recreate that here but didn't sign the right players for it. Towards the end his heart just didn't seem in it.

Fookin S'land again.......why couldn't we just go straight for the Collosimo fookin Waiter

Dinnar. If only we had a class manager of his ilk...

We'd be poised for champs league, have a wonderful cheese and olive plate and vintage bottle of uncorked temparnillo...

Instead we got fat sam, a sossidge rerl from greggs and swill pour of strong lager and we are poised to come in third in an Austrian preseason tournament.

To be fair this is true of how many of our recent managers? To many! Hopefully Big Sam is THE one that bucks this trend..
