Kyriakos or how ever you spell it was shite. hope its the wrong spelling to be honest doesnt deserve the correct way. So so so shite.

'If I'd been given half a chance at Sunderland, I'd have succeeded.'
As reported by George Caulkin in an article today.
Fair comment or rose tinted specs?

absolutely not : only if he is maintaining we needed to be relegated to rebuild which as we know is an idea Ellis is not interested in

All our ex-managers could make that claim but if we had stuck with Bruce then MON etc would never have got the job in the first place

None have done better than who they replaced but Sam is looking promising going into pre-season

His whole career was signing finished articles. 25-32yr old players on good wages.
It worked at Leicester. He did well at Celtic as there was no opposition but nearly bankrupted them in the process. Did nowt at Villa and nearly bankrupted them in the process. The same wouldve happened at SAFC anarl.
SAFC arent entirely blameless in the matter though. Appointing a manager without being able to give him the tools that hes used to be successful in the past shows either a frightening level of stupidity or an even more frightening lack of football knowledge. The tools hes always needed are loads of money to buy a team of completed articles which is impossible at SAFC in an era of FFP.

Half a chance that's because he only turned up for work half the time.go home on a Saturday night and come back on a Wednesday and its the players day off

Christ we have been served up some shite over the last decade, end of bruce, mon, di canio, poyet , dick after he came back.

I know big sam has a reputation for his teams not being easy on the eye, but its probably the most entertained we have been for yonks since the turn of the year

Don't really go with this "if he had bothered turning up" argument as MON's management style was always the same. He won cups and got Leicester into Europe doing exactly the same think. I suppose the only change was the lack of Assistant Manager. Agree though that the football was some of the worst I've ever seen (albeit I'd say that the football towards the end of Poyet's reign was worse)
This trillion %

im not going to say owt horrible as he's a lifelong Sunderland fan and seems a canny bloke.

But I've heard some shit about the time he was here and him not quite being 100 per cent committed.

So, all the best with the Ireland job Martin, but, with all due respect, youre wrong.

Jesus H f***ing Christ, I was expecting you to say "better than we have currently".... I'm off for a lie down

I guess there is still time for Allardyce to serve up shite but O'Neill's football was horrendous. After so much hope with him coming in, what a f***ing let down. People who don't watch us think Allardyce's brand of football is all long ball - it was no worse than any other team that goes long when it had to. Certainly not a tactic from what I've seen - remember Bruce's team launching it long to Elmohady constantly? Quite happy to stick with a manager who organises well, drums in professionalism/fitness and has a game plan that is not just totally about nullifying.

Fwiw, I don't buy into the theory that we'd have gone done that season if we hadn't replaced him with Di Canio. We weren't even in the relegation zone when he was sacked and we've been in heaven knows how many worse 'doomed' situations in the 3 years since.

However, I think he should come schtum on all things Sunderland related. It smacks of arrogance to basically say 'I'd have definitely succeded if I was given more time' when he was signing shite like Danny Graham on high wages.

Remember that Norwich game?

Unfortunately aye. Wasn't it a Sunday match as well? Sure it was because I couldn't even stop out and get hammered afterwards to forget about it like I usually would/do. Instead I sat in the house in a right huff all night just totally speechless at how bad it was.
