SMB bingo.

Danny Graham - check
Norwich game - check
Relegated/Lunatic - check

Still waiting on at least one other.

It annoys me that, at the time, firing Bruce and hiring O'Neill was seem to be an ambitious move....Sunderland? ambition? Whatever next. I was really pumped up, he couldn't lose to start with....
I used to like him but he is responsible for bringing Stephen Fletcher to this club. I thought he was crap, MON didn't. I know which of us was right in the end

I mistakenly though Fletcher was a good honest hardworking striker who could easily get a goal every 2.5 to 3 games and contribute to our overall play....

.... This is what happens when you base an opinion on match of the day and a goal against us....doh

Louis Saha and James McFadden

Admittedly they were free transfers.

Foolish to criticise him for two players on frees making up the numbers given they barely played and were signed or here purely as he was denied more funds at those times and raking in small amounts for squad players so needed cover.

Even criticising him for bridge and Kyriakos again given he wasn't given any money at that point. Playing the latter two too often is a much better criticism. As is signing johnson and not setting things up so he was in an advanced position able to cause problems.

Also signing fletcher, a talented enough player, but seemingly signing him and trying to operate him as a target man.

Also the signing of cuellar meant turner went for 2m and that was like for like, but graham for 5m - Jesus wept who on earth would have paid that or thought it was a good idea to bring more one paced players into that side given it was already it's achilles heel?

The style of play and displays during his last season, again that's something given he added so many paceless players to the side, which meant a side already having to be so compact and deep due to its lack of pace didn't address any of its issues.

Don't really go with this "if he had bothered turning up" argument as MON's management style was always the same. He won cups and got Leicester into Europe doing exactly the same think. I suppose the only change was the lack of Assistant Manager. Agree though that the football was some of the worst I've ever seen (albeit I'd say that the football towards the end of Poyet's reign was worse)

I would say it was a risk we couldn't take as we look to be sleepwalking towards relegation.
That was an appointment that simply, came about 5 (possibly more) years too late

That said I still like the bloke as he seems very dedicated to the game and to his job. He also seems like a likeable, genuine bloke

This was truth of matter..we were in a tail spin and he showed no idea of how we were going to get out of it. Compare to Sam this year...we could see what he was trying to do and slow progress that was being made...we got better.
He had to try and manage with Bruce's offcasts and fletch and AJ were good buys at the time.
Just didn't think he believed he could do it without mega bucks...got wind of DOF and threw in the towel for me

They all come out with this tripe when they realise after what a great position they blew. As others have said he left a lot to his backroom staff especially the man who was strapped to his seat each game , what a waste of space he was. No question had to go and a man was needed to boost moral and performance, step forward Paolo who gave us just that but sadly went a bit of the rails after, that's when some sort of Older mentor should have been appointed to help him. ONeil, well he's always thought he was better than he was.

That's a laugh mind. In what parallel universe did he not get a chance? He didn't get sacked until March! That full season under him was dire. Worse than watching Jeff Whitley star as our midfield powerhouse. I've no doubt at all that he would have took us down. Was it no wins in the eight games before he was sacked?! The bloke was an imposter and a shadow / caricature of his former self. He was more like a dithering old grandad than the super-human motivator of men that we were led to believe we were getting.

I'm sure he's a lovely bloke but he's losing his marbles if he thought he was anything other than out of his depth.
