Is Leeds Utd a derby?

Is it fuck a Derby man.

They hate us because we twatted their all star team in a cup final.

I’ll give you a clue, a rivalry isn’t a derby
They've hated us since the early sixties mate when we twatted their team on a regular basis full stop. Throw in to that the damage they did to our players in that era and the hatred is mutual, but it goes back long before the 73 cup final and probably has a bit to do with the way Revie left the club.

In response to the OP thread title, I'm happy to say that I stuck in at Geography and quickly learned that Middlesbrough isn't even a derby with Leeds unlike Bradford which most certainly is. This therefore makes it impossible to consider Sunderland and Leeds derby rivals.
This forensic knowledge of Northern geography was learnt from Miss White and against all the odds. I say against because one was constantly battling against pencil tight skirts and fitted blouses.
The winter term was always the worst time with regular bouts of nipple vasospasm sending the the boys crazy and if she'd said that Sunderland was a superb of Leeds, I too would now be making equally ridiculous posts.

Read the brilliant article I hoyed up msrra explains in great detail about the hatred

Goes way further back than that. At least to 66/67, when Hunter broke Kerr's leg, and then Revie bought off the ref to make sure we lost the second replay of a 5th round cup tie. A year or two before I started going, but I believe there were also incidents in 62/63 when we were both challenging for promotion..
I was at Boothferry Park for that cup replay and have despised them ever since.

I've never hated Leeds. When I was at school, I was friends with a boy in my class whose uncle Don was the one and only Don Revie. That apart, in my opinion, Leeds were a good team whatever anyone says. A team full of internationals who could stroke the ball about better than most.

I can recall sitting at my Uncle Charlie's place, boxing day 1963, Leeds V Sunderland was the commentary game on the BBC radio. God almighty! THAT was a "rugged affair" was that! At one stage I thought I was listening to "Grandstand's fight of the week":lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: They were both ultimately promoted. Oddly enough, my lot played both sides in the FA Cup that season.............. and we know where THAT took us :lol::lol::lol::lol:

"When you know the history......"
