Is football suspended?

They'll get to the final mate but finals are a lottery City get through be tougher

I'd be tempted to see what odds are on other team to lift trophy for the final and lump on/cover bet a bit least get some sort of a win if worst happens
Hopefully United get there and duffer ole fucks up ;)

A bit hysterical mind.
You have to remember that the vast majority of people who contract Covid-19 will have either mild symptoms or recover within a couple of days just like any other virus which circulates. Unfortunately Covid would seem particularly successful in being fatal for the old an vulnerable, even more so than normal flu outbreaks.
This is only a disaster movie if you want it to be. The reality is it's rather boring as we all sit around waiting for either the vaccine roll out or the handouts to run out.
Do you protest outside of hospitals without a mask shouting ‘it’s nothing to worry about’ ??

There are still circumstances in which you are allowed to meet others from outside your household, childcare or support bubble in larger groups, but this should not be for socialising and only for permitted purposes. A full list of these circumstances will be included in the regulations, and includes:
  • for elite sportspeople (and their coaches if necessary, or parents/guardians if they are under 18) - or those on an official elite sports pathway - to compete and train
It's not banned by the lockdown.
Did someone convince the virus to stay away from those people?

Interesting point's you make for a mag, and you're not wrong

Haha will take it. I understand it’s an escape for people like, in a world of misery, but like I say, just doesn’t sit quite right somehow. People missing weddings, funerals, can’t see their relatives but football can go on?

Why don’t you go and volunteer to help out in the COVID wards?

You make a fair point, but equally football is largely an industry where social distancing can take place. The only time it really can't is during games, but even then the players (at least in the top flight, its a bit dodgier in our league) are tested almost constantly, and it's obviously outdoors where there's less risk. So if they did stop football there would also be loads of others asking why its safe for them to have to go to work (generally with no tests, and just with companies expected to be enforcing social distancing indoors) if it isn't safe for footballers. So, for me, you can see the football continuing debate either way.

I agree to be fair that there’s an argument each way like. As I say, for me it’s just not sitting right. There’s already plenty instances and rumours of footballers breaching rules, having parties etc, and does this decision reinforce the feeling that they are somehow different to us and don’t have to stick to the rules?

certainly not. whilst I don't agree with the lockdown strategy I'm happy to adhere to it as clearly something had to be done.
neither do I worry about it because I can't control it
and I don't get hysterical about it either. we've all just got to do what's best to get through it. Cancelling professional football will not aid that at all.
just keeping calm

Even if it stops players getting it and potentially passing it to other more vulnerable people ?

Well in my view it’s the message it sends out. Kids can’t go to school and be educated but millionaires can travel around the country for a game? Just doesn’t sit right with me.
fair enough but I'd rather the millionaires 'earn' their money by 'entertaining' us when there's little else to do.

The players are not catching it during games.
They have more extensive testing so the risk is minimal if they stick to the protocols. It's not as if these players are then visiting care homes etc. I doubt they even go shopping. I realise that the games continue purely to fulfil TV contracts but stopping would have zero public health benefit and possibly (I'm speculating) a negative impact on mental health.
If there was reliable and rapid daily testing available to all we could all go about our business as normal if people could be relied upon to isolate when testing positive.
Why don’t you go and volunteer to help out in the COVID wards?
because I'd be absolutely no use to them whatsoever and I have my own job to do thank you very much. but you should feel free to volunteer if you think that's a good idea.
