iPhone messages/texts help!

Could anyone give me some hints regarding a poltergeist that’s invaded my iPhone, please?

I sent a message to someone and they didn’t receive it, although there wasn’t an indication of a failure.

In the messages app it has a header of ‘Text message’ and not iMessage.

BUT …. the same person sent a text to me and I received it without any issues.

Is it because they’re not using an iPhone?

In Settings>Messages I had ‘Send as SMS’ turned off.

Set 'Send as SMS to 'On'. It will still send messages to other iPhones via the Apple messaging system but if it comes across a non IOS system it will send the message as a text.
