I used to find that with some striker of that type. Tony Cottee was another who missed loads. Much better when the ball is moving and they don't have to think. Phillips wasn't outstanding at one on ones either but if it was movement and one touch finishes he was as good as you get.

Shearer missed his fair share of penalties too. I suppose when you get awarded a lot of them, the odds are you’ll miss a few. But some people just never, or rarely seemed to miss - Le Tissier, Balotelli

Lost at home to Watford on the Weds night, game postponed on the Saturday. Crosby sacked after Pools Panel result, Butcher appointed and lost 1st game on the following Saturday
