Interest Rate Cut coming

Simple availabilty of credit does not account for the decision to take said credit. The motive to buy or lease a £30k list price Merc or Audi must come from somewhere.
For anybody to do anything they will need opportunity and motive.
The temptation was there back in the day squire but obviously no where near as much, I dare say my fatha dreamed of a brand new mk 2 ford escort polular plus watching the ads on the telly but knew it would only ever be a dream. Why? because the bank wouldn’t give him the financial rope to hang himself with no matter how tempted he was, they used to protect themselves and their customers.

Actually my fatha probably could have bought one cash bus he’s as tight as 2 coats of paint, he can peel oranges in his pocket🤣

You should hear my daughter and sil talking about buying. Dumb and dumber.
they don’t know how much mortgage they can get but they are viewing houses they like. Told them to see a mortgage advisor but no, some relation of his has told them they will get 250k one no bother.
thats kind of the point im making and IF interest rates ever did start to rise a fair few would be in trouble I imagine

When I were a lad I wanted to buy a bit of hi-fi on tick. The shop said I was too young for credit so I sent Dad down to do it for me. They said he was too old!

In the end I saved up and paid cash.

Credit is far too easy to obtain these days.

get it done

Fibbing politicians promising them sunlit uplands, cheaper prices and great trade deals bringing better jobs don't exactly help.😆
Been happy for yonks folks too bone idle and just expecting everything on a dinner plate. Work hard, save hard is my motto

A lot of posts on this thread seem to make the assumption that all youngsters are living at home whilst spunking money away. If you move away for university or whatever it's obviously more difficult to rent somewhere and save up for a deposit at the same time.

youngens spending money and getting chuckied up isn’t all bad. Keeps people in jobs at car plants, house builders etc. Whether you like it or not, there aren’t many young people now who want to buy a traditional starter home in pallion, have an old Vauxhall outside but be in the pub every night.

True but many do. And its not just youngsters either. Far too many folk do live beyond their means trying to keep up with the jones's rather than just being content with their own lives.
