Insulate Britain

Their logic is pretty skewed. 63% of the housing stock is privately owned (outright or under mortgage) and insulation is an investment that increases property value. I can see why the Govt. should incentivise insulation of public housing stock, but not owner occupiers.
While the figures they quote, if true, are disgraceful, they are never going to get the public on board with this one. It's double-glazing and fibreglass! Not subjects anybody gets passionate about.

It's like Hitler asking people to recycle

Did you know that there are deserts that were once vast lakes.
I'm not debunking climate change, it's happened throughout the entire history of the world.
Crazy weather patterns and events are happening with much greater frequency. Flash floods, high winds, extreme heat with resultant fires.

Claiming that heavy rain in October is anything to do with climate change s a daft as saying it is a lie

I know that but this programme was interesting regarding weather patterns
I blame the containing of water as much as anything, just a theory of mine.
Watch the C4 documentary I posted, has some interesting theories

You really think insulating a home increases its value? I really don't think so. Unless its a very old building with specialist insulation.

And yes, I do think the government should incentivise it. Same as they should not have stopped the solar PV FITs payments. Every unit of lecky, every unit of gas that we don't have to use for heating homes is a benefit to everyone.
Its clear that many people can't be bothered to do it - otherwise it would be done by now. So more pushing it needed.

Shittest way to make a point I think I've ever seen.
What was the question? What was the 3rd option that isn't being listed?

That's certainly a part. Less porous surfaces means more run-off, which means more chance of flooding.

However, we also see record rainfall, that's nothing do with how the water is contained. 2 FEET just landed in Italy in 12 hours.

Wasn't it Cameron who claimed he'd have the greenest government ever, then massively de-incentivesed folk installing solar panels by reducing the FIT. Just barmy!

Now its Boris telling people that climate activists have every right to be angry and then taking them to court to get injunctions against their protests.

Its great for everyone to say "we full agree there is a climate crisis and we must take immediate and decisive actions right now", but if they then say "oh, but not like that" EVERY SINGLE TIME someone tries to do something, then its bloody pointless.

Well if you want to sell a house, which is the only accurate way to determine its value, there is a legal requirement to provide an Energy Performance Certificate which assesses such things as insulation and double-glazing in awarding an A to G rating. This rating impacts on the price of the house, and often on the buyers ability to get a mortgage. So I would argue that it definitely increases property value to insulate.
You're dead right about the solar grants though. I'm looking into solar and heat pumps, and in fact I have a meeting about that at lunchtime, but a grant to help with installation would have made it a no-brainer.

Absolutely f***ing meaningless. No-one wants to be held up in traffic.
Air pollution kills 9 million people per year globally. If Gallup did a poll on that 99% would say that’s too high and it needs reducing.
