Inglorious Basterds

Au revoir Shoshanna!

Class film, arguably Tarantinos best.

What I don't like is the lazy Bond casting directors assuming they can drop Hans Landa into the 007 universe. Just awful.
Not the fault of IB, QT or CW though.

Plus points:

Waltz
Fassbinder
Melanie Laurent
Til Schweiger
Some good shootouts
Opening scene in the farmhouse

Minus points
Eli Roth
Slightly too much sitting around tables and talking
Too many characters get introduced in one scene only to get killed in the next scene
Some of the stuff that is referred to or happens off screen is more interesting than what happens on screen

Still a massive improvement on Death Proof

The best scenes are when people are sat round the table i.e Waltz at the beginning and Fassbender in the basement

The opening scene is good and there a few other set pieces that are canny, but there's far too many cringey bits. The Bear Jew shit is embarrassing and the film opening bit where Brad Pitt's pretending to be Italian and it turns into a screwball comedy is terrible.
Tarantino undoubtedly revolutionised film in the 90s but his suffered from a massive case of hubris ever since - most of his output since Jackie Brown has been self-indulgent wankery.

Jackie Brown was superb

The ballad of buster Scruggs has that same kind of light hearted violent funniness as the inglorious basterds.

King Kong
