There's a reason the maximum wage was abolished. Have you looked around the world at other models for top level sport, such as the GAA or American sports, which seem to be organised on a more egalitarian, even socialist basis? GAA is even genuinely representative, in that you represent the county of your birth.could it be done away with?
just thinking out loud here so go easy on me - i know it's very idealistic.
no transfer fees, teams can have a squad of 25 and are allowed to swap players rather than buy / sell / loan them.
all the players get paid the same basic wage.
I'm in. Wait till I'm finished working abroad (don't wanna be mixed up in a loop hole)Another legit idea, let share out all the British millionaires money so we can all be rich.

gats receipts and revenue for all clubs gets put into a pooled fund. Ticket prices are set at a standard price across-the-board.
i know there are probably a lot of reasons why this wouldn't work but i think it would be good because teams would succeed or fail based on having good training, youth teams, clever management rather than a rich chairman.
Comparisons with American and Irish sports are a waste of time. No one else in the world plays these sports to a degree that would tempt a top player to take their talents abroad. Reducing player wages in any country would lead to an exodus of the most talented. Obviously SAFC wouldnt lose anyone but as mentioned upthread the best remaining players would still end up at the same players.
who will provide the jumpers for the goalposts?could it be done away with?

You can't argue that money hasn't had a negative influence on the game in the past 20 years or so?
Of course you can.
