Did it at Leeds. Can't remember what season. Must have been after the reduced allocation because I was there for that. However, nee hassle, would recommend.

Only the once. Nottingham Forest midweek game. Kevin Ball scored and had to be as quiet as church mice. However, the 8 year old who was with us jumped up when we scored and a steward very kindly moved us into the sunderland fans.

Was in the Milburn Stand paddock in 89/90 with my mag father (RIP). 1-1 draw iirc with Gabbiadini equaliser. Just had to stand there and smile.

Liverpool away when Phillips scored from distance. We got sussed prior to that and there were a bit of verbals but nowt else. We celebrated like fuck when he scored (steaming as away for a mates bday). Few punches hoyed about (nowt really, maybe one landed, dinnar, as I said, steaming) as we were took out by the plod (was in the side stand the camera faces so pretty family friendly luckily). They said they would shift us to the away end. Did they bollocks

Done it at Blackburn away in the cup under Peter Reid.

We lost 1-0.
We were championship and they were in the premier league.
We hammered them and scored in the second half and the 5/6 of us jumped up but it was disallowed for offside.
I think Keith Gillespie scored for them not long after.

To be fair all the Blackburn fans around us just laughed and took the piss

Done it loads of times, first time at Millwall in 1979, wtf was my dad thinking? Probably 25+times, mainly under Reid when I didn’t have a season ticket, normally find as long as you don’t act the prick, got sussed a few times but never a big issue except at Spurs end of season game when Makin scored, was a nasty atmosphere all day and was with the Mrs and on the Shelf side so left at half time, couldn’t do it at the landfill mind

Haha my dad took me to Leeds & Boro away when I was about 10. We were in the home end both times. "Keep quiet son".

Aye, as long as you don't act yourself you're normally fine. I just find the whole having to sit on your hands thing makes attending the game worse than just watching in a pub in Sunderland. Before widespread streaming I could definitely see the appeal and did it myself, but now I can watch every game with other Sunderland fans I wouldn't do it.

I remember getting rumbled at arsenal (the last time we played at Highbury). Had done quite well with blending in during the first half. Then I see our lads run out for the second half so I'm on my feet clapping and shouting "f***ing come on". Just assumed they'd be running out at the same time. They weren't. But aye, I'd been respectful so they just laughed about it. Helps that we got beaten (iirc) 3-1. A derby or something would be a nightmare

Done this many times, but being in the middle of the Chelsea fans in the Roker End for the Milk Cup semi final 1985 was one of the worst. Never spoke a word

Done it lots of times when I was a student, it was safer getting back to the station on my own.
Took my two lads to United and City away, we have family in Manchester.
Could not stop ourselves jumping up when Superkev equalised out of the blue and we got shit from some scruffs for the rest of the game, which we lost 4-1.
Couldn't have been more different at City.
They sussed us after Phillips and Quinn equalised in quick succession, we again couldn't help jumping up and celebrating.
Instead of giving us shit, the fans were great crack and there was no problem.
Paulo Wanchope scored a hat trick and even though they beat us 4-2 it was a fantastic atmosphere and experience.
Contrast between the two sets of fans couldn't have been more stark, I hated United before that game and much more after. Great result and performance from them today hahaha.

I hate watching us on tv so would rather sit on my hands in the away end, and guess I think than one less home fan is a good thing for us. Sat in the home end at Arsenal 4 times, once in the north bank, once in the East stand, once in the club deck at the Emirates and once in a box with all my cousins. Every time folk knew I was Sunderland, never had an issue, obviously the latter 2 were going to be safe but it’s a different world at Spurs, am very vary of which pubs I go into there, it’s not like we ever beat them, my record there is 8 defeats and 1 draw😩

I started off in the West Stand with my brother with tickets from Sunderland but when I realised it wasn’t segregated I got a steward to take us down to the away terraces, can’t imagine how difficult a night you had

Fair enough, good to hear another view on it! I just think one of the best things about watching football is going mad when you score, jumping all over etc. All my best away memories are of doing exactly that. Actively trying to pretend you're annoyed when we score (especially in a big game) is hell for me. But like I said earlier, the worst for me is when we concede. Again, especially if it's a big game, I'm gutted but I can't show it. I need to at least stand up, some random probably jumping on me, expecting me to look happy. I hate listening on the radio, you have no idea what's going on, every opposition attack sounds like a certain goal, all ours sound like we're miles away, but on the tele where I can watch it and celebrate if we score, I just find that much more natural and enjoyable than being in an away end

Done it a number of times when I lived in London and never had any bother, Never disguied my shirt and have always
celebrated goals for us. Not at teams usually hostile to us but I think times may have changed.

I agree GG, there’s nowt better than hugging a complete stranger when we score, kissed several blokes when Broadhead scored at Morecambe, can’t beat that feeling but I have an aversion to watching us on tv, radio is even worse, can’t get the phrase from Metro radio in my younger days “..and it’s bad news from Roker Park, come in Bob Cass”😩.

It’s a very difficult experience in the home end but I feel I’m doing my bit for the team, however strange that might seem.

I was in the home end at Wednesday in the Keane promotion season. We were fine, but it was very intimidating. I imagine if we’d been outed that it could have gotten rather hairy.

In contrast, one of the best was Maine Road in the cup 1973. Rumbled immediately but no bother
