In hindsight which manager should we have kept?

A lot of posters are saying we should stick with Moyes as we've chopped and changed too many times and the club needs continuity even though Moyes' record is poorer than the others we've sacked.
I'd say Bruce is the one we should have stuck with. Never in the bottom three in over 2 seasons, 16th when he was sacked. Looking back I think the vast majority of us will agree.

Lawrie Mac

Sunderland could have been champions of the Premier Division (north) many times over with him at the helm.

Also great friends with Graham Taylor, who we all now know the whole nation loved. I know it is a lot to ask to wipe out those England glory years that the duo created, but just think of all those trophies for SAFC!!!

Poyet was very limited in terms of what he could bring in transfer / wages / signing on fees. Out of all our managers since Keane he got the rawest deal unfortunately which is a shame because he was a very football knowledgable and likeable man. We will kick ourselves looking back at his dismissal one day
unfortunately I completely agree

however much i hate himself for saying this.... Bruce

It's hard to answer because it's not necessarily the manager it's the transfer dealings and it's impossible to get to the bottom of whether a particular player was the managers pick or all he was given due to the budget available.

We've done it several times for me when we could have kicked on, under Reidy when we pushing for Europe and could have really pushed on with some quality and he then signed Nunez and Kilbane.

Bruce had done well initially but then bolloxed it all up with his transfer dealings. Bent was sold, the debate being either reward his fantastic goal scoring with an improved contract or sell him, we chose the latter.

The season after Gyan was sold - by choice - leaving us going into that season with Wickham, Ji (around a combined £10m on those two) and Bentnder on loan and the rest is history. For a man who said he always wanted to 4 quality striking options he left us painfully short on quality.

Out of all of them I would say Poyet as
(a) the cup final
(b) I honestly think that if he had been given proper funds he would have signed quality players - as far as I can see he was given the least amount of funds out of all of the managers that we have had in recent years
(c) he had brought some decent players in on loan who done well for us (Alonso and Ki) who are streets ahead of what we have now

Although I agree with a lot of that, wasn't Ki already here when he took over?
