Improvement Yet Again

The style of play is a huge improvement on what we've seen for a while, as under O'Neill and Di Canio we didn't have a style of play.

I agree Poyet has to take credit for setting us up in such a way and giving us the opportunity to boss the game, which we did today and probably couldn't do under the last two, but the performance itself wasn't anywhere near good enough to earn any credit as we should have scored, but for the lack of quality particularly from Giac and Altidore.

i appreciate we're trying, we just are'nt very good.

at some point we have to win, next week against norwich is that point

Agreed, I thought we were excellent. Shame we didn't take our chances but there's no point dwelling on it, that performance has given me faith that we'll be okay. We had 19 attempts at goal today, very encouraging.
Our inability to score against a side with 7 1st team players missing has confirmed whar has been staring us in the face for so long .
We will be be relegated .

great to see our possession stats so high.

everything was right today apart from the most important thing, finishing.

oh, and what's with giacc and his terrible fitness levels.

Yep. We are better organised but our attack just isn't good enough. Gus is the right man, but he has been dealt a poor hand.

I think there's too much to do now, but he's the man to rebuild us and bring us back up.

It happens. Teams regularly don't get what they deserve. How many deflected shots have we seen go in our goal? Yet our's all spurned out for a corner.

Their keeper made a few very good saves and we should have had a penalty.

Wallow in your negativity if you like but what I saw today was very positive.

Positives arent getting us enough points. We played well enough today but we have to be more ruthless. We can take the positives out of looking more solid and are controlling possession but there are as many negatives when we get into the final third. Countless times we got into great positions only for the final ball to be underhit or overhit, taking too long with decision making, making the wrong decisions etc etc and the worry is that is a continuous theme. That isnt down to a lack of form, or managerial ineptitude, it fundamentally comes down to a lack of killer instinct and a lack of quality. If we dont improve the squad in January significantly in key areas then we will be relegated. That isnt being negative, that is looking at our performances over the past 18 months and seeing a continuing pattern almost week in week out.

 Is this a serious post? Go support Man City in that case.

Why should we settle for our team to not score goals? If your happy with that then that is fine the rest of us want more chances created and to score.[DOUBLEPOST=1387041500][/DOUBLEPOST]
Did you watch the game today? We lacked a finishing touch but dominated the game. That is a massive improvement on the pathetic away performances we've put in this season against teams on the level of WHU.

I agree but you can pass it about the pitch all day and all night, if you don't get in on goal you'll never score. I'm happy with the passing but it's going nowhere at the minute and if you remember they have passed that well in previous matches then dropped off the week after so it's abit hit n miss for them.

We aren't going to turn into world beaters from relegation fodder over night. We're improving, we're starting to create chances, this is good! The finishing will come, have a little faith.

If we get beat by Norwich I'll happily join in with the wrist slashing, but for now we are still in the fight.

How was it f***ing excellent when we couldn't score against a team WORSE than us???
Only on this f***ing board man!

They were worse than us on the day but that's the f***ing point you idiot - overall they clearly aren't worse than us as they're 5 points above us. We were also away from home.

That side is missing two players - a rapid striker who can get in behind defences and a pacy attacking midfielder who gets in the box and can score a goal. Obviously the whole team needs improving in every position but those are the two key areas we need to look at if we're going to stay up.

Not really. We are well behind and need to make up for our many shit results this season
it's a work in progress tho , before Poyet we were getting totally outplayed away from home. I can't remember that last time we dominated a game like we did today....
