But you will be more likely to look at sites you have seen advertised first.

Not true... I search for one, go down the list and see which one has the best signup bonus. Be the first in the list or the last!

Because the shirt sponsors will be seen by the largest audience.

More than the WWW...?

But you know about them and see them as supporters of our club, hence they are the good guys. This is how kids are drawn in, so you make my point for me

Kids use smart phones/tablets all day long now. Adverts will appear all of the time yet these adverts are not proposed to be banned.

Yes more than www. Especially by kids, every time they watch a match or see a photo of a player they see betting advertised and hence normalised

Give it time and with any sense they will ban all advertising of betting site just as it used to be. It is neo liberalism gone mad.

It's bonkers.... It won't improve the situation one iota.
actually many studies have shown that restrictions on advertising for alcohol and cigarettes have correlated with a lower rate of addiction in both- i certainly see a problem in gambling advertisements that only portray customers as winning as well as that weird non existent in the real world social aspect they always seem to have where you gamble on your phone but in a pub with friends and everyone is really jealous of how much you've won.

I'm talking about within football. The levels of adversing for gambling in general is obscene mind.

will they be banning sky sports ?

after all here is a channel that promotes transfer dealings , who's going where , such and such having a medical
oh and don't forget you can go to sky bet to make some money
the whole transfer deadline is one big betting scam
id certainly like to see some sort of investigation in to this- it almost appears that it would be far too easy for them to manipulate betting trends and odds for them not to acually do it.

So shirt sponsors make people gamble?
everyone likes to think they are immune to advertising- it wouldn't be a billion dollar industry if they were

Good idea. The football league should take the first step if the premier league won't. Get every club in the Sky bet championship to remove gaming companies from their shirts

Did you actually read that before you posted ?

You want the football league sponsored by SKY BET to make teams remove betting company logos - dont you think that might be a bit hypocritical ?

Whats next controlling the advertising on TV full stop (which reaches a audience vastly outnumbering those who'd see things on football shirts)

Dont advertise (and before anyone starts this isnt a pop at any of the people i say might be affected ive had close and personal dealings with people like these)

Alochol (We all know its christmas once the Baileys/FAmous Grouse Ads Start)- because under age or alcoholics might be tempted
Fast Food (McDonalds,KFC,Dominos,Just Eat etc) - Obese links
Fizzy Drink (We all know its christmas once the Coca Cola Ads Start) - Obese / Diabetics
Holidays - Depression for those who arent in position to be able to afford to have family holidays (especially after the huge expense of Christmas)

Granted some of those will seem far fetched and no doubt il get loads of stick but im just trying to show that banning things that has an effect on some people can rapidly get out of hand once the dicks in power start.

whooooosh?

To be opposed to this is to claim that advertising has no affect on consumerism, which is madness. Less people betting is a good thing. Aye it's fun if you can afford it, but not everybody who does so can.

I agree with you. with online betting /bingo and the licensing laws it is hardly surprising the issues with betting and drink the country has. so if we agree that items on the tv do influence people (including children) does that mean mary whitehouse was correct and does that mean that the violence in computer games are also a dangerous thing for our society to watch

Great idea. Gambling problems are going to effect us all in the next 20years, the same as are drug issues. The way this country not only allows but promotes this sickness is shocking.

problem with todays society is that a good number of people are not able to think for themselves and need to be told. I was at the hospital today and there were a good number of signs near exits saying words to the effect "be carful in icy snowy conditions". ive been on this earth for 61 years and I learnt that a long long time ago. do people really need to be warned of that. it is a stage that we are at though, where if something goes wrong it is somebody elses fault. not mine. somebody else. it will not be long mind before we cant say Christmas either in case it offends. crazy world that is losing sense of proportionality

Could be a good thing - get rid ofbetting sponsorship on Sky. Sky deal goes down, a few clubs go bankrupt, wages go down and no more Jack Rodwells getting obscene pay packets. Footy was our main sport before this Premier League nonesense and Sky and it will be after theyve gone. England were a better team before Sky and the Premier League.

It's bonkers.... It won't improve the situation one iota.

This position is based on complete ignorance. If marketing didnt work do you really believe capitalists would spend millions at a time on it?

Absolutely brilliant idea, anyone with half a brain can see that having all this betting site advertising can only be bad news, especially now lads can spunk. their wages away with one click on their phone. It's not about yourself Op, it's about society in general, all gambling and loan shark advertising should be banned and it will be eventually.

FFS... so the majority are tarnish because a minority. I know lets just ban all forms of gambling...
A lot of places have due to its destructive nature, particularly online and the phone apps. Put it another way, why should other people have their lives destroyed for the convenience of your flutter?
