All I can say is 'on behalf of the the Labour party and myself thank gawd idiots like you didn't endorse us!'

Gambling is an addiction of degrees and these sites with fixed odd machines on the high street are targeted at the vulnerable and sometimes needy.

Some of these companies - often based off-shore - have been found to employ bogus tipsters who recommend no-hope bets at high odds to punters hoping to win their way out of debt.

Make your cheap pathetic political point elsewhere and do not insult the exploited victims and their families of this extortion!

Just as a side note, has alcohol advertising been banned? Or have teams just moved away from it? I can't think of any teams sponsored by drinks comonies any more and there used to be loads.

You haven't answered though

I have...

If that's aimed at me mate, do one, you're way off mark!

Did you actually read that before you posted ?

You want the football league sponsored by SKY BET to make teams remove betting company logos - dont you think that might be a bit hypocritical ?

Whats next controlling the advertising on TV full stop (which reaches a audience vastly outnumbering those who'd see things on football shirts)

Dont advertise (and before anyone starts this isnt a pop at any of the people i say might be affected ive had close and personal dealings with people like these)

Alochol (We all know its christmas once the Baileys/FAmous Grouse Ads Start)- because under age or alcoholics might be tempted
Fast Food (McDonalds,KFC,Dominos,Just Eat etc) - Obese links
Fizzy Drink (We all know its christmas once the Coca Cola Ads Start) - Obese / Diabetics
Holidays - Depression for those who arent in position to be able to afford to have family holidays (especially after the huge expense of Christmas)

Granted some of those will seem far fetched and no doubt il get loads of stick but im just trying to show that banning things that has an effect on some people can rapidly get out of hand once the dicks in power start.

Whoooooooooooooooooosh

I don't think it's actually been banned. Fairly sure something similar to the OP was put forward a few years back but don't think anything came of it but clubs moved away from alcohol, probably because more money was to be had through bookies more than anything else. Everton were still sponsored by Chang last season weren't they?

If I see another Ray Winstone Bet 365 advert I will go nuts:lol:, Don't like Labour or any political parties as all politicians are c*nts but agree Smoking advertising got banned as did Alcohol and think Betting possibly should be but debate is open. To be honest be nice to get that Dafabet off our shirts:lol:

Its just a shame , it was Labour who de-regulated the gambling industry, but I agree wholeheartedly with you.

I seem to recall uefa or the French fa /government have banned it as there was a bit of a hoo haa for at least one match

Perhaps we should then ban McDonalds and Coca Cola sponsoring football because of their devastating impact on obesity. What about Chevrolet because of the devastating impact of fuel emissions on the planet's climate? Then we could go after American Express because easy credit has a devastating impact on those who can afford it least.

I sympathise with those whose lives have been ruined by gambling but I tend to prefer the government to order me around as little as possible. Much better for us to put pressure on our clubs if we don't like what they're doing. Bottom up, rather than top down.

So you would be happy for the most cash-rich and powerful corporations to have free reign over everything? Companies that are able to lobby and hold sway over our politicians, affect government policy, this is a preferable utopia?
I think there was a story just on the BBC, but it's been going on decades - the gambling industry accounts for the highest rates of lobbying in the UK. MPs on a jolly to Goodwood, Ascot, imagine the kickbacks, free gifts etc. You are happy for these types of companies to have influence?

What's more, the grade of company you see now...Paddy Power, Ladbrokes etc is one thing, 'trusted' companies with a large British base...but the newer companies that are pushed, Dafabet, Betway, 138Bet, these are often European or Asian companies with little to no regulations to protect the average customer. The type happy to take your money all day long, but look for any trick in the book to keep hold of your winnings.
Advertising doesn't work like, watch that advert, then you're compelled to run to the shop straight away. It's about legitimising a business. They have enough money to get on shirt tops, they must have something about them. So these companies, use our politicians, use our sports industry, to legitimise themselves. Give a veneer of respectability. Our MPs are happy to facilitate this for kickbacks, hopefully some tax return down the line.

Imo this doesn't make us a nanny state.
Removing as much power from corporate interests as possible, particularly ones that offer no material benefit to the individual, is a reduction in the nanny state imo.

Agreed - Tony Blair's New Labour destroyed pub-life and sold it's soul to the Gaming industry, 11 years in power and I can count on one hand Blair's accomplishments! While his failings Middle East, NHS re-organization, public sell offs, student tuition fees etc pales them into insignificance.
