It's easy to tell if somebody is a vegan as they generally tell you within about 10 seconds of engaging them.

Also, allergic to nuts? Peanuts? Or just yours?

Important to separate the vegan bit from the allergy. Vegan is one thing but people with allergies aren't "fussy eaters". My other half would like nothing more than to drink a pint or have a bit of proper bread or proper spaghetti once in a while. The 20 mins until she'd had to spend the rest of the day in pain on the bog just isn't worth it. But better than those poor twats who would die from eating a peanut I suppose.

Sofas and shoes are made of leather and bacon is made from pigs.
Its an eye opener seeing what animal products are in things. You can't even give a vegan a £5 note without them raising their eyes and feeling oppressed.
Not all vegans go on about it but everyone I've met does
