If you had around £8k for an estate car, what would you pick?

Is the reliability there though? I'd stay clear of the Passat like , know a few people who had them and they were constantly in the garage.
I have had 2 Bmw's over the last 6 years and to be fair, i have not had any problems with reliability.
I know however that there is some as you hear stories.
The 5 series is a cracking car and the estate comes with some good kit as standard.

The best thing by a country mile is the split folding tail gate. Absolutely brilliant!

Another car worth checking is a Skoda octavia perhaps? Never had one but always hear good things about it
 


For that price bracket, I’d go for a Mazda 6 estate such as this one;

As an Asian manufacturer, Mazda tend to include all the whistles and bells. Good engines and you’ll only need to check drop links as expected on any car of similar age.
