If you could be born again

I wouldn’t read the books ‘Life After Life’, ‘How to Stop Time’ or ‘The 15 Life of Harry August’ because it would be confusing if I was reading the plot of what I was living.

I would go and be a dancer at the Folie Bergere. I could have! Seriously tho I am a bit like, hmm but what would be the unintended consequences even changing some of the bad stuff could lead to some great stuff not happening.

Playing with fire but just be more confident about myself from the off
BUT then your life takes a different path and I've no desire for that.

Reversed through the turnstile 13th September 1975.

Would not change a lot in my younger days, the best growing up you could wish for.
Hindsight maybe a different line of work.

The sex, drugs, rock n roll, football lifestyle not been bad, just work got in the way.

I often ponder the thought that if I got an incurable, terminal disease, how would I look back on my life?

Some jobs I never should have taken, some partners I should have swerved, some I should have stuck with, but in the grand scheme of things that’s all just dust and part of the learning curve.

I’ve seen a fair bit of the world, lived in another country, have a beautiful child and made a difference to people that matter to me. I’ve lasted - so far - 36 years more than the doctors thought I would and ultimately don’t regret a thing.

Wouldn’t have started smoking though.

Not that I’m quite ready to go yet, of course.

pay attention at school. Listen more to what people are saying instead of young and doing my own thing. Pluck up the courage to ask a girl from Eston out who I was mad keen on instead of someone from Washington. Take away the sex and there was nothing there.

Enlighten me? What happened on that particular match?

I wouldn't change much about my life so far. I've wasted money on shite that I don't need, and could have put it to better use, but I don't think that's unusual.

Maybe I wish I'd been a bit more of a slag when I was young and better-looking. Wasted opportunity.

If I hadn't thrown the dummy and tried to make a break at Rosslyn Park I wouldn't have broken my neck and failed medical board. I'd have gone on to join the Army and not ended up in investment banking.

Not sure which path I'd rather have taken.
