If/when we get back to the premier league

What is our realistic ambition/achievable position?

Obviously we don't want to to back to aiming for 17th every season, fire and hire, repeat until look runs out.

With the money in that division now - what would people expect? Mid table at best each year?

Brighton/ Brentford

I reckon our primary aim would continue to be buying young players and improving them, and the finishing position would take a backseat. It's the only way to long term end up like Brighton are now.

We certainly wouldn't be panic buying our way to 17th with "PL experience'.

What would you enjoy more out of taking a pasting two games in three or being top 5 championship team? I mean, I thinkw e have to go with momentum wherever we can and this season has been great to watch but we could easily lose the talent that made it so great.
But actually think I'll problies enjoy being back in the prem less, particularly if the mags give us a pasting

Complete delusion on here at times like.

People harping on about being better than half the prem when we aren’t even in it.

No wonder a lot of people think we are arrogant as fuck

I liked you better yesterday, some nice positive posts from you!

Don’t take it so literal, no one’s expecting us to pull up any trees IFFFF we get there.

With that said, anything less than 1st and I’ll be fairly disappointed ☹️

Never get this argument being a top 5 or winning enough in the championship leads you to the prem anyway

Pretty sure the teams that have done back to back promotions before have come straight back down. Add the fact no team has ever done back to back playoff wins implies next season would be tough.

However I’d back this team and manager. The fact we’ve preformed so well without Ross Stewart means this team plus him we’d have a good chance I reckon.

if we do get up then eventually once we’re established I’d hope we are looking at top half.

There’s every chance there could be another relegation before that happens though.

Let's aim for top 7, Mowbray has already surprised everyone by getting us in the playoffs I fully expect him to surprise everyone again when we're in the premier league with this great football we're playing.

Funny isn’t it, I’d love for us to go up but when you really think about it it’s likely to just be miserable again just as things have been looking up.

That’s a major part of why we are in a no loss situation with the playoffs, we don’t lose momentum if we lose. We can all look forward to what next year will bring and for once we are an attractive proposition for young, talented players.

I think another year or two would make sense to progress properly but you can’t say no to a promotion if you have the chance.

but we can out grow them. The likes of Burnley and Co have done really well but they have their limitations. They were only better than us because they had just come down whereas we come down 5 years ago.
Even Fulham who have had a good season we as good as matched them twice.
We have put limitations when the owners have said from the beginning that they will not pump money in. We are no different other than crowd size, which these days does not give any significant advantage.

This. We'd continue what we're doing. We'd be able to accelerate it a bit and get better youngsters, but we wouldn't overspend for experience. Go up, do what we're doing, see how a young, technically proficient side can do. If we go down then we either sell some for a decent fee or we keep them for an immediate attempt at coming back whilst counting the £70m or so we got for the season and the parachute payments still to come
