If we go down..

Is it not the end of Sunderland? I for one jokingly admitted that going down could be a blessing in disguise as we could get rid of the 8 or so players out of contract and some high earners, notably Johnson. However, when you look at it, if those 8 dont have their contracts renewed the squad is essentially skin and bones and if they are given new deals I dont trust Gardner and co to do the business in the Championship. It really is worrying times and if I were Ellis Short, I'd be rolling the dice and counting my lucky stars whilst opening the cheque book now.

Cheque book won't be splashed like.

We are going to have a massive rebuilding job on no matter what happens but even bigger if we go down.

Might be a transition season next year

I would imagine Ellis will have had enough of the disappointments. Can't see him dipping into his pockets again. We'll be right in the shite IMHO. We could well be fielding a very young and inexperienced team next season. We shall see what happens.

We still have an outside chance of stopping up, but it's getting slimmer than an anorexic on a diet.
