If we could sign one player

He looks canny for us but:

Rooney
Berbatov
Hernadez
Macheda

and I'm sure there's more...that Diouf onloan at Blackburn?

diouf doesn't look very good. 4 strikers isn't that many and he can play wide. I don't think he's that good but I also don't think Man Utd are ready to give up on him just yet.

Tim Cahill... oh hang on, realistically... shit, dunno ! Wouldn't mind Stewart Downing... nah, that's not realistic either...

I really want to see us, either in Jan or the summer, go for Nestor Calderon. Hasn't he already issued an ' I would be very interested'?

I think he has and we were interested last season.

I think we could sign one player it would have to be a goalscoring wide left player or an accomplished left back.

One of N'Zogbia or Kranjcar for the left wing or Taiwo at left back.

I'd just be happy to see Mensah, Meyler & Campbell back and staying fit ..... I think Campbell with Bent and Gyan gives us a great mix up front.

This is my first post, have only just joined....been saying to the lads at work for a while that would love david bentley at the SOL. The lad looked a class act then i think he got caught up in his own arrogance, refusing to play for the under 21s for a start, and harry has never seemed to give him a proper run of games. He has a great cross and can beat players, whether he would follow benty up north is another thing! And of course would love ZOG!!!

Is Jesus Navas out of our League?

Struggles to get into the Spanish side but, then again, so would most Prem players. :)

Not one for saying "Hey, look at this...." as utube clips of players mean fuck all but.....

Miles, stretching to lightyears, out of our league. And that's before you take into account his extreme home sickness and anxiety attacks that prevented him from representing Spain much earlier in his career.

I don't expect big signings in Jan. Sounds like we were stretching things for Gyan.

I'm more concerned with hanging on to Henderson - just doing that would be the best scenario come Jan 31st.

If we can't then there may be money to strengthen and Nzog would be useful, given Steeds age, fitness issues. If Henderson goes to Man Utd - then we should use the leverage to sort a deal for Wellbeck.

I am presuming that the generally agreed benefit of signing N'Zogbia would, most likely, only be achieved by spending £8m - £10m and that this is the sort of sum that is considered 'affordable' (or do posters think that Wigan will be prepared to accept less than the £8m they rejected in the summer ?)

If the £8m - £10m is around the figure being accepted as affordable, then I would like to throw another name into the consideration - Kieran Gibbs

It will be interesting to see how Wenger resolves the enviable problem he has of accommodating both Clichy (aged 25 years) and Gibbs (21 years). It is not as if he can tell Gibbs that Clichy is nearing the end of his career at Arsenal and so Gibbs might be prepared to consider leaving in order to improve his chances of regular first team football.

Whilst fully appreciating the sterling work done by Bardsley to date and notwithstanding Richardson's recent conversion to the postition, I do think that having a left-footed genuine left back would be an incremental improvement.

I am not saying N'Zogbia would be a less valuable signing, merely putting forward an alternative.

I also agree that, if possible, converting the Elmohamady, Onouha and Wellbeck loans to signings would be an equally valuable move.

Andy Carroll please?

Chilly road mackem hasn't replied. I'll happily replace him for the purposes of this bet?

He even says "fish" in his post. If anybody believes we are in with a chance of a top four finish they need a labotomy. We are progressing and have made a decent start but we need to aim for a top 'half' finish first and if players stay fit and on form an outside bet of 7th.

Oh and add another vote for Zog, our only weakness is the left hand side, whilst Malbranque is a class player he isn't natural here and mainly offers us option across the midfield.

Can he?

Probably N'Zogbia for me anarl.

We won't sign anybody major in Jan, I'd bet big on that. But in the summer I'd say N'Zogbia or Kranjcar please would be lovely.

Whos to say? I think Short will have lots of confidence in Bruce's judgement in teh transfer market and if we are in touching distance of Europe at New Year then he might be able to persuade Ellis to stump up 6-7m for N'Zogbia to really push for Europe. Then the only real activity in the Summer would be to make the loanees permanent if possible.

Ambitions perhaps, but I'd love to see Adam Johnson here. Under normal circumstances we'd have no chance, but if City want Henderson that badly then it could happen.

Zog is excellent, but I'd be slightly worried about his impact on our (obviously strong) team spirit.

best post of 2010.[/QUOTE]

We'll have a damn sight better chance of it than your shower of shite, after Bolton fuck the arse off you today you've then got Chelski to rape you, and more games you won't win before Xmas, we'll be about 15 points ahead of you come January :-D
