If the crowd was 38k and the capacity was 42k

Would we even bother mentioning the crowd?
Joking apart with my attendance threads I only moan because the stadium looks f***ing awful with 12000 empty seats.
Even at RP when the capacity was 47500 when we had crowds of 28k plus the stadium looked great.
I hope we never increase the capacity in the future.
BTW I am going to Wolves
Quite easy to get tickets for away games tbh you only need to go to about 5 or 6 away games a season.

Keep the faith

The stadium only looks empty because the lower North Stand doesn't have concession tickets so it's always going to be like that except Vs Mags etc.

Exactly, that is why we need to do something about it.
Would be easy to make the first 8 rows concession areas.
Don't offer concessions for kids in SWC to help get rid of the little turds.
So we would still have around the same number of concessions.

I need to be in the marketing department of SAFC ;)

They really have no idea when it comes to ways of promoting our beloved club.

Think plenty more will get bought - people might have forgotten there's a game -midweek England game - people might just presume that it is a break until they notice all the games tomorrow

Who cares what it looks like...... who can take the piss?

Spurs, Villa, Man City, Everton, Chelsea (all with similar, probably lower gates)

Wolves, Stoke, Fulham, Wigan......... couldn't get 38,000 if you put them all together (well if you put 2 of them together.)

The mags? (they have as many empty seats as us!)

Our attendances are something to gloat about....... so why don't we?

The extension was stupid. 42kish capacity would see us sold out most of the season imo. I remember when getting a ticket was hard. Now people aren't arsed and can decide on the day if they want to go. Unless tickets are going down to £10, we should never extend again. Would be madness.

The reason it's not full isn't because people don't want to go to the games, it's because it's too f***ing expensive.

Tenner a ticket and you'd be locked out. No sympathy.

Are the only people who are concerned about empty seats at the front of the North Stand and what it will look like on telly the same feckers who will not be there and will be watching it on the telly ?

Personally i think that's too cheap if we are wanting to compete at the level we are at now and possibly higher. Tin hat on like.

would that not decrease the attendance?

If we ever get into Europe, UEFA's Fair Play regulations mean that Sunderland may not be able to strengthen unless we can breakeven. So we can't reduce ticket prices and strengthen the team. The regulations come into force in 2012/13, but takes into account the current financial reporting period.

If we get into Europe will need a lot of players as it's very difficult playing Thursday and then at the weekend

Does the 25-man squad rule not count in Europe like? Serious question, i don't know.

Not sure why the capacity gets so much debate on here. Seems odd to complain about people not going to people who do actually go.

I also think we have not been helped in recent weeks by the timings of games. Last 3pm game before the mags was villa (iirc), and i think the crowd was pretty good for that one. Now we have a monday game, a sunday game and then the festive period, so we might not get consistent saturday 3pm fixtures til the middle of Jan.

Lets wait to see what the crowd is for Bolton on the 18th Dec. Keep up our recent run of performances and i'd guess we might even get 45,000+
