If its Alf Duncan

last thing we need is an inexperienced player in the iddle of the park, we need an old head.

Cabral isn't old but he has plenty of experience. Duncan beside him, if he is the player we are told he is, could work well imo.

Its not picking and choosing though

What other young foreign player with such little experience has made an immediate impact?

Patrick Vieira?

It may be unlikely but it's certainly possible. Besides I'd take a true talent turning up one game in three over the shite we've had in the centre over the past two seasons.

Ah, and there we go! The goal posts suddenly change! We've gone from 'little experience' to a specific type of experience, and all because I plucked two names from the top of my head.

How have the goal posts changed?

2 seasons in Brazil and 15 odd caps for the most successful side in the world is more than a "little experience"

Also a season in Serie A being capped by your country is more than a little experience.

Duncan has had less experience than all the players you have named in debate so far, youre having a mare.

Played regularly in France before moving to Milan. I want us to sign Duncan but the point is that he is a huge gamble and the history of these type of deals tell us he wont hit the ground running.

You asked for players with 'little experience', I gave you two and decided to then attach specific criteria to the experience to enable you to discount them. Someone else mentioned Arca, and you dismissed that one too. You just really don't want there to be any examples that challenge the opinion with which you are comfortable, I think.

Its because the points youre making are woeful mate.

Oscar is a Brazilian international before moving to Chelsea

Nastatic played a full season in Serie A before moving to Man City.

They were experienced

tbf with Nastasic he was playing serbian second division football before going straight into Serie A......must have made a canny immediate impact to get snapped up by City.

All the players you are mentioning have experience though.

Duncan has yet to play a full season, the game time hes had has been at a poor level.

A full season is not little experience imo, Duncan has played half a season at a poor standard.

Absolutely. How about Coutinho too? About 40 starts in all comps before joining Liverpool.

There are examples of players that have worked and plenty that haven't. Also loads of young players who have been loaned out to lower league clubs and come back to make a really good impact the following season.

Every signing is a risk, just got to trust the new scouts to identify enough of the right players.

Good to see Fishpaste getting angry with more posters who disagree with him

They know better on here.

Youre exactly right but my argument stands that:

No young foreign player has had an immediate impact with as little experience as Alfred Duncan currently has.

Every player mentioned so far has more experience than Duncan has.

he is absolutely a huge gamble but i think its a gamble we might be prepared to take because we cannot continue to make the same mistakes (bringing in average but experienced players) and expecting a different outcome.

he may or may not hit the ground running but again we could pay £10m for an experienced yet average british player and there is no guarantee he will hit the ground running.

again it comes down to trusting the scouts and their knowledge of whether a player is good enough to play in this team, in this league and actually improve our first team.
